Monaray is so puzzling. He has insane quick burst speed but has what a track coach would call the worst kick ever.
This catch and run against TCU is exhibit A. He initially separates and then just absolutely dies. He's flat out and has #28 changing direction and moving sideways at the Baylor 35. By the time Monaray is at the TCU 25 #28 is even with him. For a player as fast as Monaray there's zero reason he should've been caught on that play.
We scored anyway so it didn't matter in the course of the game, but it's such a perfect encapsulation of Monaray's year. Just didn't have the breakaway speed his flat-out numbers would tell you to expect. He's also not a very good route runner, but that's another issue.
