I do not know whether or not Dabo talks that way, which is why I said that "I doubt" it. It's clearly stated as an opinion. However I'm pretty confident of that view based upon what I know of his character. I feel even more confident about Scott Drew. I distinctly remember both men in live TV interviews after winning a natty taking the opportunity to praise God and place their faith up front for all the world to see.

Drew is well known for using the slogan J.O.Y. (Jesus Others Yourself) to motivate his teams. And it has impacted the team. Several times in postgame interviews the players said similar things on live TV, most notably Jared Butler immediately after Baylor's win in Lawrence. Drew was partly inspired by Dabo who did something similar before his natty.

Also, I did not use the word "never". That was your choice.

Sort of reminds me ...in a way...of the opening scene in by George C. Scott in the movie Patton. Patton used a lot of profanity to motivate and it must have worked since he kicked the **** out of the Third Reich. Maybe the end justified the means.

You can tell the longer you're on this board who's played a sport and who hasn't. And as someone mentioned the locker room used to be a place of refuge and privacy but now you got people with phones recording everything.

I'm not exaggerating..my 7th grade basketball coach at Tyler Street Christian Academy in 1977 lit into us like that all the time. I learned words I never heard before.

Fyi. We were 23-0 that year

Yeah .I think it's safe to say Drew has never went off like that..the closest if you followed the Baylor basketball reality show last year on ESPN+ ...in the locker room at Kansas after they boat raced us . and he almost got ejected...that was the most pissed I've ever heard him and no profanity.but if he had they'd probably cut it out on the editing floor.

Repugnant.
From this speech, it seems the character of Kirby Smart is the opposite of Dave Aranda. If this is the kind of attitude and personality that is necessary to win a national championship I want no part of it. I wouled rather our athletes have a better character than what is demonstrated here. I much prefer the kind of person that Damar Hamlin appears to be.

And this mentality is why Baylor will never be elite.

Not true. It is possible to win with class. I doubt Dabo Sweeney gave a speech like that when Clemson won their national championships. And they were the first to win it all with a 15-0 record. Those teams were certainly elite. In MBB, Scott Drew is an excellent example of someone who won it all with class.

Besides, as I said before, there are more important things than winning trophies.

Well Dabo actually does. not as colorful but definitely curses. Most coaches do
