I'm gonna guess we are in the bottom 50% of Power 5

What I take away from this is that Baylor will at least need to keep up with the "Average" NIL offering for its level. I imagine that Big 2 numbers will be higher, but as long as we can keep up with the average for the Pac and ACC we will stay right where we have always been.

That's how I see it too. When you first look at how much the big programs are spending it's hard not to think we can't ever compete with that. While that may be true....it doesn't really change anything....before NIL we weren't really competing against the big programs then either for the 5* and 4* players.

Baylor and the Big XII can't afford to stay at the same level as the PAC and ACC. To become the 3rd conference of strength and choice, they will need to out-compete those conferences.

We just lost our best commit for the 2024 class. Our NIL is not where it needs to be, but where it needs to be probably is not sustainable for a school like Baylor. I hate NIL in its current form. used to love following recruiting, but there's no point getting excited about a recruit when a player can commit early to hold their place then decommit at the last second when the right NIL deal comes along

Feels like we already found out that Baylor literally can't afford to compete with Oregon (for recruits anyway). Do you see that changing any time soon?

Oregon is one of the PAC schools with likely very high NIL that the other PAC schools cannot match either. Looking at overall conference money, not just one offs.
In the SEC, who do you think competes against Alabama, Georgia, and A&M (LOL!) in NIL?

I'm the same with recruiting now. Early commits aren't worth getting worked up about to me now.

$300 million Yankees beating the $300k Mississippi blood hens is not competition. Would Yankee fans celebrate that win?

NIL is the same scenario. How can fans care. It escapes me. It's nonsense and not competition. I at least want a salary cap.

What I got out of this article is that to rise to the upper 50% of NIL, BU will have to rise to the upper 50% of P5 schools year in and year out. Emphasis on "year in and year out," primarily in football. Every 5 - 10 years or so won't ever cut it.
