Who is the +1 since it seems San Diego state is a hard no from Fridays news, Memphis?, or would we just stay @ 13 teams? I think Yormak knows things are going to get crazy and better to bring the best schools available into the fold now to ensure the Big 12 remains #3 in conference power list rather than waiting while the SEC and BIG start the poaching for their power 2 leagues.

It took you four edits, and your grammar still sucks. What are you smoking?

We can't get more $$ from TV unless we add a school currently in a P5 conference. If we add UConn and someone else (like Memphis), we would need to split the current TV contract $$ with the new schools - no increase.

If we do this in the wrong order, it makes it even LESS likely for a P5 team to jump from their conference to ours because we'd have less money per school.

My guess is that there will be no UConn coming to the Big 12 until there is some other event that triggers more re-alignment or until we can attract a P5 team to come and actually increase the TV $$.

If there is some grand plan to build a basketball superconference then perhaps you'd see UConn, Memphis, Gonzaga, SDSU coming on board, but it is very unclear how that would happen before a new Big XII TV contract is created.

No one knows exactly the wording of the new deal as it pertains to expansion.

ESPN and FOX could possibly view UConn as a Power 5 addition. Or they could could enter and not get the full 31.8 million.. Whatever they get would be better than their current situation.

Unless the landscape changes, my guess would be that the Big 12's proposed interest in UConn is just posturing in order to put pressure on PAC 12 teams to move to the Big 12 (i.e. the SDSU situation part 2).

Yeah ok, wording, but since UConn is definitely NOT in a P5 conference (or any conference for football), and more importantly, since it is NOT in their (ESPN and FOX's) interest to pay us more than they have to, I doubt we'd see an accommodation on the existing TV contract. ESPN and Fox can broadcast all the UCONN football they want right now for whatever they want to pay, and the basketball is likely in a much smaller deal with the Big East. I don't see any way that ESPN and Fox would encourage the move unless it came with some other moves.

Washington and Oregon may be wishing they would have taken the reduced payout from the BIG right now, hopefully Yormark is playing 3D chess with his moves.

I don't believe the B10 has offered O and UW anything over the past year.

Nothing official but there were talks with the BIG right after the found out USC and UCLA were bolting. Rumor was BIG would consider offering them spots if they took a reduced payout compared to the other schools currently in that conference.

That rumor was just sportswriters writing their own thoughts then repeating it over and over. There was never any rumor that the B1G actually considered offering such a deal.
