Aranda is a really easy coach to like and respect. As I've said in other threads, I want badly for him to succeed in Waco because he is, in many ways, a perfect representative of Baylor University and our football program. I genuinely like and respect so much of what he stands for and wants our program to be. We just need to win at a much higher level than we did last year. Here's hoping this year looks more like 2021 than 2022.

I do like that he says he'll be focusing on the team more than on individual players. He's the head coach and he's ultimately responsible the the team's success.

I like that he freely admits his mistakes and hopefully learns and adjusts. I felt like he drove the team into the ditch last year, sounds like he is taking responsibility for that. He is rare sort of coach, I really hope he can get this team out of ditch and be a forever coach for Baylor like Drew is.

They were a few plays away from beating byu, wvu, and tcu to make a 9-3 season. Due for a better season.

You're telling a coach who has held prominent roles and contributed to significant on-field success in three of the five power conferences, including the SEC and Big Ten, that he doesn't know what he's talking about in terms of relationships and player treatment. Do you realize how silly that is?

And as the chief critic (among many) on these boards of Matt Rhule, maybe you're not the authority you think you are on winning football and winning football coaches.

I think there are valid criticisms of Dave Aranda as a head coach to date (good news: so does he), but this critique is utterly absurd.

Trashing Dave Aranda for caring about the wellbeing of his players and wanting to create a healthy environment where they're treated like human beings and not football playing droids is silly, to say the least.

Winning people make winning players. Good coaches understand this.

100% agree. "Person over player" is one of the dumbest mantra's I've heard. It's almost as dumb as the"army of one" slogan that makes zero sense. Dave wouldn't even know who these guys were if they weren't talented football players, and there is nothing wrong with that. It is in everyone's best interest to put team first, which requires self-sacrifice to win. If he doesn't win, he won't be able to impact their lives at all because he will be fired.
