A Baylor spokesperson has confirmed to FOX 44 Sports that RB Qualan Jones is no longer on the Bears football team.

Jones is coming off a season where he rushed for 462 yards and 7 touchdows.

Qualan's situation is a failure by the coaches. He's 5'10", 240, power back, averaged 5 ypc. Good receiver. He just wound up in the wrong O for his style. Hope he lands at a Big 12 school and has 2 great years.

He was probably fourth string. Opens up a spot.

How is it a good take when you want him to go to a Big 12 school and dominate for 2 years?

D Richardson under performed compared to Qualan for last season. DR averaged 3.5 ypc in 2022. Qualan averaged 5 ypc in 2022. yet Baylor coaches had DR above Qualan. My opinion is based on facts. Mitch…who knows what his opinion is based on.

I really like Qualan and would just enjoy seeing him play.

We, at least most of us have no idea why he is no longer on the team. Unless you have direct evidence of why he is no longer on the roster, you are making an assumption. This type of statement is how people get convinced of things that are not true. We see real life ramifications of this every single day. If you don't have direct knowledge of why he is no longer on the team, in this case an opinion should just be left unsaid. On social media opinions are quickly morphed into fact. The opinion may turn out to be true, but the vast majority of times it is completely off base.

Best to just say you are sorry to see him no longer with us and leave it at that.

Would be an odd time to get rid of him if the RB room is full, dont you think? The same running backs were in that room in the Spring, spring training, summer and summer training. Gerry had enough time to pick another school and as much as we like him as a person he did absolutely nothing at the new school. We had a roster full of ****ty QBs truth be told and he still didnt win the spring battle. Maybe Qualon left on his own. He has all the measurable but was he every a game changer? Do people even mention him when they talk about our RBs? I hear Richardson, a guy that's never even played an official down with Baylor talked about more.

We had 12 players transfer out this year, one of the lowest totals in the nation.

He got dismissed for multiple drug charges.

Qualan getting kicked off the team is a failure by the coaches? I was a big fan and defender of his last season, but you've got to follow the rules. I wish him well going forward, but the discipline of our program is bigger than any one player.

This has to be an off field discipline issue. CDA has never "run-off" any player or players that wanted to be here.

The only example one delusional poster came up with was GB who as we all know was a great teammate but mediocre QB. I hated to lose him, but GB was the one who decided he wanted play QB. That's not CDA "running him off." Especially when CDA gave him plenty of time to make a transfer decision.

That claim just sounds like sour grapes after Blake was named the starter, even though Blake was the better option at QB.

Can we please quit acting like he was Emmitt Smith? Good grief. He was the third guy on the depth chart at best. Ya, he was great for depth purposes, but there are other guys on the roster that can fill the north/south bulldozer niche

Personally, I always felt like he was dancing thru the holes except for a few times. I never really felt good with him in certain situational sets, downs, yardage. He was certainly a physical specimen, one you felt could be a great physical runner, but as mentioned… he just seemed to dance at times that he should have just carried a couple of tacklers with him.

Reese, on the other hand, falls Forward, even though he looks like a WR.

He looks the part and is a solid player, but not a world beater. He seemed like a "win more" player to me. He ran well on plays that were blocked well, but didn't create plays on his own.

Hopefully there's a path back for him.

Does anyone have a source for the drug charges? The news report I found said he was suspended from the team for issues, but made it sound like he could be back if he fixes his off the field issues.

There was a picture posted from Day 1 of Fall camp and he had a large knee brace on. Not sure if it's protective or if something else.

He was a short yardage power back. Bottomline is that you could go jumbo and run a LB or TE in his role and get similar results.
