Looks like SMU really wants to find ways to get butts in seats they should fit right in the Pac 12-8

Not for $39.99.

You legitimately got a free Baylor football ticket - to conference games nonetheless - with purchase of a combo meal at Wendy's 20 years ago. Not exaggerating.

Not free, they were $5 with food purchase. Just one more example of how much of a living hell BU football became under Kevin Steele.

They should have been paying us to go to those games. It was work.

It's smart marketing by SMU. It attracts impulse buyers, rather than making a planned decision to attend their games. Plus it becomes a gift buy.

We struggled to fill our stadium not too long ago and we were playing good teams almost every week. And even though the announced attendance is relatively high for Baylor games, there are still a lot of empty seats at most games.

Their home schedule includes LaTech, PVA&M, Charlotte, Tulsa, North Texas and Navy - not exactly stadium fillers. And if the power 2 conferences end up working out and we are playing SMU, Rice and Tulane on a weekly basis, we will return to those days of struggling to fill the stadium. I don't think we have any room to say anything and some people need to remember where we came from.

There was a tarp in the endzone when RGIII had his Heisman moment vs. OU in 2011, so yeah, not sure we should be talking attendance smack.

So what did we do…built a new stadium without those end zone seats, dropping maximum capacity from 48k to 42k, so we don't have to cover the one end zone with tarps. Not much of a change there.

One year Baylor ran a promotion that season tickets would cost whatever the temperature was on a specific date in the summer. $102 for season tickets

True, but those were for the worst seats, in the corners or end zone.

I remember the 2$ ticket with a Dr. Pepper can. They stopped doing that and we added the tarp.

I forgot that part. Bleacher seats with no backs on the 5 yard line. But it worked out for Baylor; the next year I upgraded to better seats.
