Stanford is trying hard to receive an invite from the ACC and might be willing to do so at a reduced revenue-sharing cost:
ACC that it would be open to joining the conference at greatly reduced or even no media rights payout for several years

I'm surprised Stanford would consider no payout. From what I saw it was initially 30%. If the remaining P12 merged with MWC, let's guess that a new media deal meant $8m per school:

Year 1 MWC | Year 1 ACC
$8m | $0
$8m | $0
$8m | $0
$8m | $0
$8m | $23m Year 5 Stanford would have made $40 million in 'new' MWC with new TV deal
$8m | $23m Year 6 $48m in MWC, $46m in ACC
$8m | $23m Year 7 $56m in MWC, $69m in ACC.

So, by year 7 they would be ahead. This does not account for travel which would be horrendously expensive if they bring the non revenue sports to the ACC.

*I've looked up ACC media deal payouts and they are all over the place so I am not sure what is accurate. I've seen $17m, $23m and +$30m per team per year. I have no clue what a renegotiated P4+MWC deal would be worth. $8m per team is a guess.

Good luck keeping the ACC together 7 years from now. Its a calculated risk of staying a power conference in hope to eventually be in the BIG or SEC. If anything adding these 3 schools with accelerate the defections of the best brands from the ACC.

I read something that started to make sense. ESPN can renegotiate how much they pay the ACC if membership drops below a certain number. If FSU, Clem (and maybe others) leave, the renegotiation would lead to espn paying less than current rates, possibly much less. So pre-expansion makes sense in that light. if this is true, ACC is anticipating members leaving already and digging in to try to keep the current revue rate.

Allegedly only FSU and Clemson are no votes on expansion at this point. So again allegedly I say, the expansion will pass when voted on next.
So UNC and NC State switched to yes?! My guess is those that stay no votes will have a legal out of the grant of rights. Maybe UNC stays no and NC state changes to yes but has an agreement UNC will take they with them when they get the Power 2 invite.
That's not how that works.

I dont know when Cal/Stan/and SMU would start but I bet their year 7 is more than 7 years from now. Which makes the odds of them ever getting anything even worse.

Well if the Twitter people are correct expansion was voted down by the ACC again or perhaps they are saying the votes still aren't there so no official vote taken.

They won't vote "officially" to add these three schools until they know for sure it will pass. Best estimate is they've taken a 3rd straw pole and still don't have that 12th yes vote to make this happen. I just bet FSU, Clemson, UNC and NC State have guaranteed future spots in the SEC/BIG that haven't been made public yet.

Hmm, some of the ACC schools are already divvying up the loot they'll get by inviting new members who won't get their own share.
