And delusional

Baylor WILL ABSOLUTELY LOSE to Texas Tech! All of the College Football analysts are picking Texas Tech to beat Baylor and finish well ahead of the Bears in the Big 12.

There was no beating into the ground…it was a 1-score game for 3 quarters and then Texas Tech self-imploded! Baylor was fortunate to get Texas Tech's worst game of the year!
Please remind me again where Baylor finished in the Big XII standings and where Texas Tech finished!

BU missed finishing 9-3 but for 3 self-inflicted errors.

Tech missed finishing 4-8 but for 3 self-inflicted errors by opponents.

The margin of error is that small.

McGuire runs a huge risk of over hyping things and then eventually falling victim to his own PR campaign. I suspect his claims that Texas is weak and that all roads lead through Lubbock after that game last season is something he is likely going to have to pay for in Austin in the Fall. I would think it is viewed as pretty unprofessional in the coaching world to publicly call your opponent weak after you beat them by any margin but especially if you barely beat them. I personally prefer the more subdued and the non smack talking (at least in public) type.

Joey is a talented hype-man who can get young kids fired up and committed to his program. I'm not sure he's much more than that. I've seen nothing out of him, either when he was here or from last year, to make me think Joey has anything special going on upstairs.

He figured how to get paid several million per year. Oh, and its legal too.

Tech did actually beat tcu but the refs completely blew that one. I wish tcu had that one to Do over

He was also a hugely successful high school coach like Briles right?

It's kind of hard to compare Joey McGuire to Art Briles until he managed win conference titles or at least get a 10 win season. The Joey hype is not close to realistic until he actually has a few years of accomplishment. Even Aranda's one year of spectacular success overshadows Joey's hype.

Joey was able to pull James Blanchard away from Baylor and was the able to hang on to James when Rhule tried to get him to move to Nebraska.

Recruiting is a huge part of college athletics and TTU is somehow managing to get some talented players to head to Lubbuttucks. They have that going for them.

Agreed on all that. But not like Joey has no success at other levels.

It more shows how desperate tech is to be good at something for once. Even under leach who I was a huge fan of at best they swim 7-8 Games a year.

Their historic success compared to Baylor is nothing.

Baylor even lapped them in the last decade alone doing more in 10 years than they'd accomplished in a century.

So I can see how it's easy to have a thirsty man in the desert drink camel pee and think it tastes amazing.

Joey learned from one of the best salesmen in the biz…goes by the name of Matt Rhule. He may be successful in the short term despite our protestations. If so, he will likely try his hand at the NFL too.

A story I saw elsewhere said the reason for his leaving has not been stated. To me it seems like he was let go.
