Reliable Violent Offense

If our new RB duo can give us production similar to Smith & Ebner then our offense could be as good as 2021.
You think being #54 in the country is good?

I think the team overall had a great year in 2021, the best in Baylor history. I realize that was mostly due to a great defense but the offense was pretty good too.

You think that an offense ranked #54 is pretty good? To be fair, they probably ate up clock, therefore reducing the reps that the defense had to take. Which in turn, helps the defense.

You only quoted part of my statement. We are probably mostly in agreement.

I will add this: I didn't remember how the offense was ranked in 2021. I do know that overall the team finished with the best final ranking in program history, #5. The offense did enough to help the defense get us there.

FWIW....our next opponent... Utah... opened as an 8 point favorite over Florida
No clue why Florida stop using the TE's until late in the game....Utah was struggling against them....

Sorry that your quote was cut off - I fixed that.

I agree with you in general terms and would say that for a team to win a conference title, it has to be pretty good in more than just one facet of the game.
I personally feel that having only one high level WR, the lack of pass protection and the lack of throwing accuracy by the QB severely limited what the offense could potentially do in 2021. The defense was the crutch that the offense leaned on.

Now to be fair to the offense and to show you I understand your side, Gerry had the ability to scramble and he was a great leader. Those skills combined with the RB combo that we had, vs. offset his lack of accuracy with the ball. Having Smith, Ebner and Gerry to rush the ball were the keys to keeping the offense just good enough and the defense off the field.

It sure who is starting at QB but TXST has the kid from Auburn. Huge guy like 6'7 with a cannon for an arm. Tons of transfers on that team so whatever happened last year is irrelevant. DBs will be tested
