Dave gets harder and harder to listen to. He's in year 4 and has no idea how to get his team motivated on a weekly basis

Dave is great at diagnosing problems but not good at fixing them. All of Dave's horses and all of Dave's men can't get the energy started again

Dave is a nice guy but his speech is like listening to ASMR.

There may be more to that quote....but from what we have there it's concerning.

Him saying he's talking to other staff about the lack of energy makes me feel like he's not understanding he's responsible for team energy.

I know he has a quiet personality....but I think there are still ways for quiet leaders to be motivating....but he seems lost on how to do it.

If this was during halftime of a normal game I'd be concerned....but if it was during the 2 hour delay I wouldn't sweat this much.

The Long Island players were eating Chick-fil-A. I know that because my wife tried to go get a Chick-fil-A sandwich about 30 minutes into the weather break, and there wasn't a sandwich to be found in the whole stadium. One of the Chick-fil-A folks told her that long island ordered 100 something sandwiches for their team, lol

Saw in another delayed game this year a team was eating stadium hotdogs because it lasted so long

You'd think the Baylor fan base had suddenly all started wearing crystals and breathing out of one side of their nose. The only thing missing is someone referring to the team as not harnessing their "chi."

I'm glad you guys are such experts at determining how someone's energy is from watching them on TV or sitting 400 feet away in a stadium seat.

If only the team had done more Yoga before the season started, we'd obviously be 3-0.

The HC said the team was low energy

Except Dave literally said after the game that energy or lack thereof was a problem. And don't give him any ideas with the yoga thing, lol

You know even the Zen master Phil Jackson, knew when to put a foot up his teams arse. Dave could learn a thing or two from Phil.

That would require Dave to have a personality. But he appreciates the critique.

Don't disagree that energy/discipline are the responsibility of CDA, especially from a perspective of hiring the right staff to bring that energy if you can't bring it yourself. Kaz brought a lot of that energy/discipline to teams in prior years and it seems like its a pretty common place in CFB hat the S&C coach is the "hypeman" on gamedays. We are missing that big time as Kaz brought a ton of swagger/energy on the sidelines...not to mention Kaz also had us to be one of the fastest and most "in-shape" teams in the country.

I was in the Letterman lounge before the game when Coach Aranda spoke to the group. If the above is not from the lounge, Aranda said the same there about that weeks practices. When I hear Coach Aranda speak, his confidence he exudes is as though he doesn't really believe himself what he is saying, but throwing stuff out hoping it sticks to the wall. As a four year letter winner, I would have found it hard to be motivated by him.

Every successful team has energy people. A lot of people compare Aranda to Landry, forgetting that Landry had coaches to charge up his players, and leaders among his players who charged up their team mates.

We frankly have neither, from what I see. There is no excitement from the coaches; they all appear to be playing 'cool coach' like Aranda, and as a result the energy level stays at or near 'library' for Baylor.

It would help if we made some explosive plays. I know Robertson is not Shapen, but he needs to spend some one-on-one practice time with receivers and plan some deep shots. I don't see much to indicate he practices deep throws.

The problem is not rooted in aranda's energy, or lack of energy, nor his personality or lack of personality. The problem is not person over player and it's not the summer solstice.

The problem is that he had zero head coaching experience when we hired him. He can clearly be successful if the talent is already in place. However, being part of a winner and building a winner are two very different things. I think it is the main reason why so many of the guys plucked from successful programs end up failing. They were part of a winner, they didn't build that winner.

This is why we should only hire guys who have built programs and taken them to success. To me that bar is a conference championship. Briles and Rhule had both done that before coming to Baylor and they were successful here, at Baylor. There is still no guarantee of success, but hiring coaches like that presents far less risk vs. hiring a guy who has never been a HC.

Perhaps after 6-7 years of OTJ training, Aranda can figure it out. However, that is what the minor leagues (G5, FCS) are for. We shouldn't be hiring guys for an internship.
