The Reason Why This Season Was Cursed Before It Began

"This is Bear Country"

A phrase that has become synonymous with Baylor football mediocrity, during a 14 year span when the Bears didn't post a winning record and had three different coaches try to run the program. This is Bear Country was what every fan, including Colt Barber in his most recent letter to us S365 faithful, saw when they entered the now demolished Floyd Casey Stadium, only because Baylor couldn't find enough fans to fill the entire stadium.

Now our marketing/athletic department has resurrected the slogan for a new merchandise campaign as we entered this season on a 4 game losing streak. In an effort to make some money, the administration brought back this (almost) forgotten phrase to rub its nasty mojo on the football program yet again. At least the former iteration wasn't in this current color scheme.

Bears are cursed as long as this phrase is being peddled by the university.

Umm, that was always an unfinished endzone that they used only for overflow or sell out crowds.

I recall "this is Bear Country" being on the old press box.

The concrete end zone seats simply read " BAYLOR"

Wait, did the later-installed tarp have the bear country phrase? That damn tarp….

And we had "This is Bear Country" on the press box forever before that.

There's nothing wrong with the slogan.

When you sat in the old Baylor Line card section, during halftime when they did the cards, you would hold up the card, look through the hole at the press box on the home side and say, "this is bear country ".
