I've heard rumors that they don't like each other, yet Orgeron's son is on Aranda's staff. Why wouldn't we hire Daddy as a consultant or some other titled position? What could it hurt?
Because he's a train wreck -- and outside of one season with a bunch of All-Pro NFL skill talent a pretty bad coach.BellCountyBear said:

He could recruit. But maybe not anymore.bear2be2 said:Because he's a train wreck -- and outside of one season with a bunch of All-Pro NFL skill talent a pretty bad coach.BellCountyBear said:

Aranda's not a train wreck off the field. Quite the opposite actually.IowaBear said:
You also just described….. Dave Aranda
Maybe a train wreck on the field - we've won one of the last 8 games.bear2be2 said:Aranda's not a train wreck off the field. Quite the opposite actually.IowaBear said:

I said "Because he's a train wreck -- and ... a pretty bad coach." I figured it was understood that the first part was a character critique and the second a comment on his job performance. It would be pretty redundant otherwise.IowaBear said:
You didn't say off the field. You said train wreck. And that Dave Aranda is . He also managed to win with a group of really good now NFL players developed by the prior staff. Your whole sentence was Dave Aranda in a nutshell
&ct=g LSU has finished five seasons outside of the AP top 25 since 2000. Orgeron was responsible for two of those in a five-year tenure -- that followed an absolutely disastrous stint at Ole Miss.Killing Floor said:
Just so we're all on the same page, "bad coach" is 51-20 at LSU overall and 31-17 in SEC. And 4-1 in bowls. And "one good year" is national championship. And his worst year was 6-6 bowl eligibility.
So yeah, pretty terrible and I can dream that one day some "bad coach" who's LSU win rate in SEC is 7% higher than Briles Baylor win rate will come along and fix us right up.
Such a Baylorish statement. Most Baylor people care too much about how things look versus actual results. No Quarterback said:
if we were to do something like that, I would actually have more hope that Aranda would get fired sooner rather than later. Orgeron is a PR disaster waiting to happen.
Baylor and LSU aren't the same. LSU is among the bluest of blue bloods. We're a .500 program historically with limited resources.Killing Floor said:
It's ok if we don't agree on this.
I would happily trade 10 losing seasons for 1 national championship.
And FWIW we're 3-7 in our last 10 games. And I'm fully certain Ogeron would attract talent to BU. Aranda is bleeding talent.
I'm not sure why you're taking my posts as defenses of Aranda. I'm already ready to move on from Aranda. But Orgeron would be every bit as bad. And he'd actually be worse because he'd embarrass the university off the field while losing.Killing Floor said:
Disaster compared to? We're optimistically looking at 2-3 wins. And not stacking up recruits for the future.
It's a disaster now.

But the knock on O at LSU was he couldn't recruit and program slidKilling Floor said:

I'm not making a case to hire the guy, but he was 57-22 at USC and LSU.bear2be2 said:Because he's a train wreck -- and outside of one season with a bunch of All-Pro NFL skill talent a pretty bad coach.BellCountyBear said:

Rumored he may have slept with students, he definitely apparently tried to pick up a boosters wife at a gas station, among other things. Heck, if Aranda doesn't like him it might because O tried to pick up his wife.
He's a great interview but as said above a ticking time bomb.

I wonder if Fat Pat could fix our defense? Stranger things have happened: look who's on the toad sideline these days.
