He's just reporting what was said in the press conference.

Everything on offense is hard with an OLine that is having challenges but pounding the ball has no chance of working. Got to throw the ball around in early downs. Shapen can do it, we have some decent receivers adn RBs.... just need to get the right plays called.

This is a mid game adjustment; not a mid season adjustment. Jeez how much are these guys getting paid?

This is like the curious Case of Benjamin button in terms of coaching ability. I appreciate Dave admitting new basic football concepts that he's learning each week, but it's not easing anyone's concerns. Next week are we going to see a headline that says "Dave aranda says that he talked to the team about how blitzing can help create pressure on the qb"?

You misinterpret my point. My point isn't that we should be running the ball as much or more than we have to this point. It's that this offense is dependent on the run to be effective. Without that element, it will not work.

We don't have a scheme or play-calling issue IMO. We have a personnel issue. We didn't recruit/develop/build a good enough line to run any offense effectively this season. That still falls back on the offensive staff, but it's the real root of the problem, not the play-calling.

So while I applaud the staff's decision to start flinging **** at the wall six games into a failed season, I don't think any of it will stick. The dye has already been cast. No offense will work consistently with the level of line play we've shown this season. And we're not going to reinvent our offense six games in. That's not possible.

We're stuck with a wide zone scheme that can't execute the most basic play in its book -- the one for which the scheme is named. Trying to run spread concepts and fling the ball over the yard with players recruited to the wide zone isn't going to make much of a difference. We'll continue to face a lot of third-and-longs and fail to score touchdowns in the red zone.

I swear every couple weeks Aranda comes out with something like, "You know, I think we need to turn the playbook rightside up and see how that affects the running game." I know they have more gears running behind the scenes but some of his "fixes" sound like my son's flag football coach dialing something up for a group of 7-year-olds. "I think it'd be good to throw in front of the first down marker as opposed to behind it, think that will really open up the ground game."

What ever happened to "take what the defense is giving you" type of offense?

There is absolutely no chance anything changes as long as Grimes is the OC. He only knows one way to play football. They can talk all they want, but we all know nothing is going to happen.

Indeed. The line is THE problem.

They're weak, they can't block and they have no clue what they're doing. Priority number one should be fixing those areas by any means necessary.

Air Raid disciples have long talked about the screen game as an extension of their running game. I'm sure that's what he's talking about. Finding reliable short passing plays that can serve the same purpose as our running game.

Maybe he's going full Air Raid circa 2006 where his "run plays" are mostly short passes.

But we all know whatever the real idea is, it likely won't show up Saturday anyway and even if it does it won't work.

I have a hard time listening to him all the way through. He does not exude confidence. I am sorry Baylor gave him an extension and raise. We are screwed for a while.

Have I not been begging to see the kid who smashed Kyler Murray's HS completion and attempt records? Check downs can extend drives. That's all.

The campaign to save face has begun. It's obvious that Grimes is going to get canned at the end of the year as the sacrificial lamb. I don't believe for a second that we're going to suddenly turn this wide zone into an air raid. This is like when IHOP tried to do that IHOB campaign a couple years back.

I'm curious if we abandon this Grimes offense, then what can we install given the talent we have? A spread offense requires an accurate passer, which, maybe Blake is to some degree, but it also requires big, strong, fast wideouts that can get loose in space. I don't see that, although Winfield may have some of that. I say just run an offense that complements the players we have, maybe that is just some plain vanilla old school offense. Oh wait, that's what we already have. We're so screwed.

Mack please just do the compassionate thing and let Dave go, this has got to be miserable for him. He's such a great guy, but he needs to go be a DC or just head coach in the G5 before ever coaching in P5 again.

After being Conference championship, we're now bottom 4 of all P5 schools. Mack had a chance to use the bye week for staffing changes, instead he embarrassed the university by saying that he was coaching the coach.

There's not a tremendous purpose for those media stunts anyhow. Do you really think a coach is going to get on a white-board and diagram all the changes he's making to prepare for the next team?

University of Bye head coach said in it's Monday presser, "It was actually much tougher scoring on our own Bye scout team in practice than it was on Baylor."
