Didn't we fire Steele with 2 games left in the season and allowed him to stay until the end of the year?. Another head scratcher

I think a better question would be was Matt Rhule the most overrated coach in Baylor's history?
What was his biggest victory for us?
Did he ever beat a ranked team?
Did he ever lead us to beat someone we were expected to lose to? Vanderbilt maybe? A road win against an unranked OSU team?
Basically a .500 college coach
1-2 in bowl games
11-27 in the NFL.
Sinking Nebraska to new lows.
Sure he has done some good things, but overall average to below average results.
Speaking of Snow - I would love to have him back here as our DC. I don't know if he retired after getting canned along with Rhule in the NFL, but the guy can coach. He isn't with Rhule at Nebraska..Stats97 said:Forest Bueller_bf said:Maybe the most overrated coach in history.KIA said:

but he did his job in his 3 years, recruited well, and was wise to bring in an excellent DC in Phil Snow.
Ignorant takes.Forest Bueller_bf said:Maybe the most overrated coach in history.KIA said:

"...watch the ... play develop" would imply growth or forward progress.Wangchung said:It's like they completely forgot what it's like to watch linemen go down on their bellies and stay there to watch the rest of the play develop. And then fans would be told about pizza and soft serve ice cream parties while extolling the "internal improvements" that we weren't knowledgeable enough to see for ourselves. The entire Steele era was one giant middle finger to Baylor alumni.Stats97 said:Self Made Bear said:
I'm not old enough to have seen Bill Beall-coached teams, but anyone who thinks Aranda is worse than Steele never attended a Steele coached game.
I was thinking exactly the same thing as I was reading thru posts and then saw your post, and as someone who attended the first halves of many Steele-coached games, I agree completely. This is not an endorsement of keeping Aranda but it's not even close when it comes to Steele. It wasn't just losses for Steele, it was the complete lack of competitiveness. Games like last week were usual during the Steele era when he played power conference opponents. And I don't believe Steele would have won the Big 12 if he inherited Aranda's
situation.

I think "...watch the rest of the horror unfold" would be a more accurate description.
