For all the crap Phil Bennett got, he at least understood how to have a D that was an adequate complement to Briles point a minute offenses. No, he didn't coach shutdown defenses but he got the job done well enough to for us to still get a LOT of W's.

It's spelled "complement". Means to complete as opposed to saying something nice about another person. By my count we won 57 games over the 6 seasons he was our DC which included the season we needlessly self destructed which is an average of 9 1/2 wins per season. No, I'm not giving him total credit by any stretch - just saying he was good enough given the offenses he complemented - other than the last one (note the spelling).

By the way, as long as we're picking on individual games two of the teams you played on lost to Alabama by a combined score of 75-2.
