Exactly. NIL is the recruiter now and everywhere.
Of course, a "NIL" was in force before its transparent reality and that is sad. But now we have transparency with the NIL and its function in portal. Both are sad. Can we have the best team money can buy?
Nope, TX will do that. OHSt and Bama, as big and good as they are, can't out spend Austin.
When I said, "Can we have the best team money can buy?" I meant "can college fans really live the notion that money always buys the best team?" I did not mean Can BU have the best team money can buy?
It is an unfair and unlevel playing field. The NFL at least has the draft starting the with the lost team on the totem pole. The Houston Texans are on the verge of making the playoffs after several forgettable years that placed them in the top of the draft.
As to your question, college fans will move to the most competitive, exciting venue. I don't think it will take long unless NIL is eventually organized to equality for everyone. Money, tradition, and desire for success will always rule, IMO. Baylor can't compete with any of those three. Being private and small doesn't help. My perception, going forward, with exception of the SEC & B1G (big...money CAN buy + tradition) the rest of the conferences will basically become the "Sun Belts" of college football. Viewership will fall off, etc. Baylor, more than likely, will be on ESPN+ most or all games next year. Frankly, Baylor may stay there period. I guess we can be the Test Case for what the vision was for the PAC12 streaming. The next three years for Baylor will determine its long term future. Frankly, my interest and passion may wane. I actually found most Big12 games boring this year.
