Still several weeks to go… But so far here is how some of our competitors are ranked in regard to their transfer portal classes:

#1 Colo with 7 4*s and 4 3*s

#6 TCU with 1 4* and 6 3*s

#11 TT with 1 4* and 5 3*s

#20 SMU with 3 3*s

#25 UH with 1 4* and 2 3*s

So far we have zero portal commits and one pickup from JUCO. Aranda has said he has learned through experience he needs to be more aggressive with the portal. So maybe there is some big news to come.

And, maybe, there is not

Hope is not a strategy

Friends, sadly you need to prepare yourselves, Baylor football has not hit rock bottom yet. It's going to get bleaker with Aranda and Rhoades around.

Sorry,

Nobody wants to come here. Aranda is a weirdo and the "vibe" is that Baylor is a program in a death spiral. NIL is clearly not on par with other schools and there seems to be no interest by anyone with any power to fix it.

Honestly I don't know how good the guy is but here's why I'm excited. He appeared to be a Midwest guy that had interest from big time programs in the Big10. We got him to come down south and we closed the deal. It should be celebrated!

I won't sit here and act like he's Lamar Jackson, but he is at least a high floor player for us with his legs. I know it's a highlight video, but he gave Ohio State players some trouble with his scrambling ability.

You're a backup caliber poster.

To counter your second point, I don't think our coaches would have pulled out all the NIL stops if they were as confident about Robertson as you are, and they can actually watch the guy in practice

If Sawyer has game this seems like a win-win. Finn can hopefully help us win some games next year and give Sawyer a year to keep growing.

Yep. At worst it's a good stop gap until we can get a new head coach.

Grab a mirror. Because you're reading way too much into my post and putting words in my post that simply are not there.

Words were (exactly) "better come through". Does not indicate confidence one way or the other.

It's not our fault you work for Rhoades department and have to post in this site. Lighten up Francis.

Now this is great news. This dude's a difference-maker. Hopefully this will open the flood gates to other portal targets.

This is legitimate cause for hope/celebration.

This is the first difference maker QB we have had since Seth Russell. I hope he can stay healthy.

wHorns DL Kristopher Ross entered portal. 2022 Top 75 recruit EDGE rusher. OBVIOUSLY, we never touched the Edge, maybe he could be had, bring his skills and knowledge to help our "Defensive Staff"… you know, coach 'em up.

The fact that you can watch Finn's highlights and label him a backup to Robertson speaks volumes about your football acumen.

My biggest concern with Finn is durability. I hope he stays healthy.

I know Aranda's been a disaster. That is indisputable fact. But this is the first good news for the program in a long time. Solid, in demand, portal pick up. Way better upside than Shapen. Needs protection and a good play caller

It was probably more NIL than either.

Exactly. NIL is the recruiter now and everywhere.

Of course, a "NIL" was in force before its transparent reality and that is sad. But now we have transparency with the NIL and its function in portal. Both are sad. Can we have the best team money can buy?

Nope, TX will do that. OHSt and Bama, as big and good as they are, can't out spend Austin.

When I said, "Can we have the best team money can buy?" I meant "can college fans really live the notion that money always buys the best team?" I did not mean Can BU have the best team money can buy?
It is an unfair and unlevel playing field. The NFL at least has the draft starting the with the lost team on the totem pole. The Houston Texans are on the verge of making the playoffs after several forgettable years that placed them in the top of the draft.

As to your question, college fans will move to the most competitive, exciting venue. I don't think it will take long unless NIL is eventually organized to equality for everyone. Money, tradition, and desire for success will always rule, IMO. Baylor can't compete with any of those three. Being private and small doesn't help. My perception, going forward, with exception of the SEC & B1G (big...money CAN buy + tradition) the rest of the conferences will basically become the "Sun Belts" of college football. Viewership will fall off, etc. Baylor, more than likely, will be on ESPN+ most or all games next year. Frankly, Baylor may stay there period. I guess we can be the Test Case for what the vision was for the PAC12 streaming. The next three years for Baylor will determine its long term future. Frankly, my interest and passion may wane. I actually found most Big12 games boring this year.
