Yep. And his playing style/motor make him a potential catalyst for improvement if we can fix the fundamental issues on offense (O-line play) and defense (overall strength up front/gap discipline) that made us so damn bad this past fall.

Good, hard-nosed players that play with the intensity Pendergrass plays with make natural leaders. But you have to fix the basics before that kind of stuff even comes into play.

Not trying to be funny. He's a freshman. He's been getting RB2 snaps and he's good but not Jonathan Brooks good. I'm not suggesting that he should leave or want to leave. I'm saying his snap count for a freshman was high and he's in P5. He has no reason to leave. That's all.

And if he keeps up in the gym he'll be really good.

He should be a fullback, not a tailback.

If we're not the worst program in FBS, GXG and the coaches should be talking so GXG knows which players are priorities to retain.

Talked with some family of his after the game and asked if he would transfer. They indicated he liked Baylor.

I watched a lot of tape on Dawson his last two years in high school and thought they would play him on defense. He is very instinctive, knows where the ball is going and shows up with physicality. That's why I thought he might transfer. If he had played defense we would have been better on defense, and I would be surprised if he couldn't start. Of course, that's assuming talent evaluation is what it needs to be.

That's a BIG assumption!

I just don't see him ripping off 65 yards runs on anyone. Solid short yardage and inside the 20 guy but nobody is scheming around his speed or elusiveness. Glad he is staying but we need more than him.

This kid is a stud - gonna be a great one for the next few years....

Out of all our guys I was actually least worried about him leaving. Dudes from East Texas and has always said he's wanted to play for Baylor his whole life. We need more kids like this who want to be here.
