I assume the idea is to create more diversity on the platforms on which you can get the package.
ESPN+ if you just want sports (pretty huge you'll be able to get Fox sports content on an ESPN platform)
Hulu if you want Hulu content or broader live tv content.
Max if you want HBO content
And then eventually, ESPN and Fox content gets pulled from the other live tv services (Apple TV, You Tube TV, etc.) and goes to their own proprietary streaming.
Like I said. Not what is needed.
Streaming started as a way to cut costs from ballooning cable bills but now it can be way more expensive depending on how many/which ones you get.
Everyone has their own now. It isn't jut netflix and amazon (which now is charging more for no ads?) anymore and makes it almost impossible to watch anything because it is only found on one service since all of them are making their own content now. Netflix used to be the go to for older shows/movies but as their license for that particular show ends so does the access, or if you want the newest seasons you have to go to another provider.
Netflix, Amazon, Peacock, Paramount, Disney+, hulu, etc. etc.
And it will just get worse as eventually the streaming services will sign big deals with the sports leagues and games will be spread out on different services so the casual viewer will not be able to watch anymore.
