Didn't look very good anyway Michigan states line last year wasn't the best

Would have been an upgrade over what we had last year. Now back to square one and need to try to keep what we got.

I'm actually OK with this. I was never super jazzed about that hire to begin with.

Maybe we'll get someone who's been part of more than one good run game in the last five years.

Maybe Ryan Pugh is still available?

It actually wouldn't have been. Michigan State averaged 2.9 yards per carry and 89.5 yards per game on the ground last year. We averaged 3.3 yards per carry and 114.8 yards per game.

And Michigan State was pretty bad in 2022 (3.8 ypc; 113.0 ypg) and atrocious in 2020 (2.7 ypc; 91.7 ypg), too.

We may have a dodged a bullet here.

Lol guess I just saw our line this last season and assumed it couldn't have been worse so you may be right. Guess we'll see.

We were really bad up front last year. But Michigan State's lines were even worse two of the last four years.

I judge people on results, not reputation. And Kap's results never matched his reputation. Alabama can have him, as far as I'm concerned.

I think deBoer is going to crash and burn there.

Aranda's failure to attract / manage any continuity in his staff by year 5 is a massive red flag.

I don't directly blame him for this one. But it's a byproduct of the fact that we were grasping to turn over our offensive staff at the end of year 4 in what looks like a lame duck situation. That's a hard sell.

Not to mention that's one year off firing a DC and replacing him with a guy who posted the 112th ranked D in the country, or somewhere thereabouts.

Honestly, losing a position coach to Bama isn't shocking in any way, but it does speak to the fact that there wasn't really anything tying Kapokovic to Baylor beyond the fact that it was a paycheck.

Agree. And he's comparing a Bama 1 year coach to a Baylor 4 year coach who is on the hot seat.

Which place are you going to feel better about?

Gotta say, the insane movement of coordinators and position coaches this late in the cycle everywhere was not something I predicted in today's Wild Wild West of college football.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I was not optimistic about Kap from the outset but to have him poached this late in the game is HORRIBLE timing for us and the off-season momentum we've had.

Now we have to plug that hole and the options are even slimmer. Who knows what happens to the recruits Kap helped pill in

DeBoer lost his OL coach late in the process so poached our new guy. Not a lot of success at MSU but he has experience in the southeast. I'd rather hire a successful G5 OL coach at this point vs rando P5 guy from like Rutgers unless Aranda has been given a green light to open the checkbook

I feel like Bama could have done better. This guys resume was alright but not good enough for me to get depressed about losing. I don't see how this is bad for recruiting when the 2025 signing day is so far away. no commitment is really a commitment until they sign the dotted line anyway
Bobsyouruncle

More about the transfers. Agree it doesn't do anything to 2025 recruiting.
