I certainly do not know what he means. But it appears he may be talking about starting up big time NIL. I'm not sure why we didnt get a taste of what NIL means in hoops success and apply that to football. But I think in the past 3 months we have gotten a taste of what NIL can do for football.

yep, agreed. He could also be talking about branding. Not sure exactly what they'd do, but maybe they have a plan in addition to NIL+Wins to increase the brand. Clearly wins matter more than everything else, but perhaps there's some additional branding, similar to W-R-U (wide receiver U) that was used back in the Briles days.

If they had to do it all over again they would take the millions for the Fudge Center and put it into NIL. Facilities matter much less now. We had it going on when it was about the school and the campus. No longer..it's all about the paycheck.

FIWI I am hoping there is a league coming with salary caps and rules and lining up and playing on an even playing field. Baylor could excel in that league and it would have much more legitimacy.

If I was ol' Mack, I think I'd be working on my resume.

You've built a building, fired the best coach in chickball. Extended a questionable football coach.

Time to hit the trail before things get testy.

May as well, since faith in Aranda escapes reality.

"I've been an athletics director for almost 20 now. I'm not sure I've ever been accused of being too patient, but the reality is that I know when a program has unfixable core problems, and I genuinely do not believe we are in that position. Our issues are absolutely fixable."

I thought the party line was that there weren't any issues since the slavery ones were addressed.

Nah. Think Ramsower here. Dude recently got a recognition "award" for his long tenure at BU.

Can he elaborate on "unfixable core problems"? His salary should be tied to the end result of Baylor Athletics programs - ALL programs.

He's a BS just like the President. We need a cleaning across the board....

How about don't allow us to become irrelevant in the first place? Kansas has overtaken us in football. I'd trade our current program for theirs in a heartbeat.

Read that again and then allow to sink in the amount of mismanagement that was required to pull off that feat in a mere 2-3 years. We went from leaders to laughingstock under his watch - good luck, Mack.

Program hasn't had a major scandal, and that's all that matters to some of the decision-makers

It may be an esoteric point, but it bears emphasis:

A university cannot be involved in NIL.

Donors can decide to place money into a charitable foundation. They can use student athletes to advertise or represent their brand or products. That brand, however, cannot be the school nor its departments directly.

I'm nor naive enough to think that an AD wouldn't ask a donor to redirect his "gift" to an NIL appropriate source off the record or similar. However, with present rules in place, the university itself cannot officially direct a NIL deal.
