Forrest group up in Houston, went to Baylor and resides in Waco. He loves Jesus and makes family friendly rap and dance music. He doesn't tour as he likes to stay home, but has millions of followers on every platform. His music is legit really good, and would continue Baylor's uniqueness where they have their own in house DJ. I've been calling for live DJ's at Baylor games for years, and the DJ they had over the past few years is good. I am glad to see Baylor doing this. Forrest would be a step up as he brings his own fan base on top of just providing music. It would be a combo live sport + live music.

It's the future folks. And Baylor would be the trend setter.

Venues in Vegas have world famous DJ's as house DJ's for months or years, football is next.

The soccer games are good because they don't have this crap and have lots of fan involvement.

Ha, Forrest's music is better than most of the rap junk out there. Jesus or not, he's good.

It's a plus he's not singing about evil.

Soccer is not football. Completely different sport and environment.

Football has a lot of dull periods, which is conducive to something like this.

This is a great idea if your goal is to have empty stands and to bring in a bottom ten recruiting class.

Maybe as a half time performance. We need music that's going to make our guys want to rip the heads off our opponents

To borrow a phrase from Hank Hill: "You're not making Christian music better, you're just making rap worse."

I think rather than having piped in music, we need to have more emphasis on having a bigger, better band. The best atmospheres in college athletics are fueled by a killer band. While a Baylor grad, I also have an LSU degree and have been to a lot of games in Tiger Stadium. The entire stadium feeds off the band and every cheer/chant is organized in sync with the band. They get the crowd going. Sure there are a few crowd pleasers thrown in with Welcome to the Jungle, Callin' Baton Rouge, etc. But other than a few staples, most of the atmosphere, music, entertainment is provided by the band.

Wish Baylor would be able to foster this, rather than having the band as an obligatory sidepiece that goes missing for a large portion of the game and which only half of the stadium (at best) can hear or pays attention to them.

That triggers nightmares of the infamous Tribute to Sandi Patty halftime show from one of the last years of the PreacherBob era (2004 or so, IIRC)

You want music that makes chicks wanna come to games and dance ...then the guys follow...then u have a home field advantage...

It's very simple...don't over complicate it .

I'm pretty sure that's not how football really works.
A DJ or rapper, Christian or otherwise, isn't going to add or remove a single person from the sphere of Baylor football.

But you are free to stream his content if it suits you.

Students care less and less about football as a sport every year. You have to find new ways to get their attention. They care about Instagram and TikTok and video games.

I predicted live DJ's at football games. That's becoming the standard. The next evolution is live music at football games. Essentially a live EDM concert combined with football. Just wait.

You old guys wanting a marching band are showing your age. It works for LSU and Penn State but not many other places. Baylor has to take a different route. Nobody 20 years old wants to hear a marching band, and we're wasting scholarships and money on that.

Watch Forrest on Austin City Limits August 9th and tell me students won't love him DJ-ing live during games. He did nothing but secular music the first several years of his career, and is now doing Christian that sounds better than the secular stuff out there.

For those who think he only sings about Jesus and can't do anything secular. Once again, most of his career was secular.

If you are fully committed to helping your Christian rapping nephew get paid gigs at Baylor football games the fan engagement and AD, student life, marketing team would be the ones you need to plead your case to. The public sports forum isn't the best avenue to make that happen.

No relation, just recognize talent when I see it, and there's an opportunity here.

A good choice for Baylor's new promo video.

I would prefer the music at games not be filth at odds with the school's Christian values. It's idiotic to think that the musical content cannot have better value while also feeding the energy of the fans and the team. The two ideas are not mutually exclusive.

A few thoughts on this:

1. We can upgrade the music selections and play better current stuff without getting to risqu or butting heads with the Christian aspect of our school. Things like jump around (not really current) or others fit this mold.

2. We do need better selection like we had back in the Briles era.

3. This could be achieved without a "DJ" like the OP proposed but just with someone that can actually Dj

4. The band is not the way to go.

Just realized Tiesto was supposed to be the in-game DJ for the last super bowl, but pulled out at the last minute for a family emergency. Tiesto has 8 million Instagram followers

I'm telling ya'll this is the future. And we got a guy right in our back yard pulling ridiculous eyeballs throughout the world and he matches our values.

Played at a sold-out Foster Pavilion last night, one of the stops on his sold-out tour across the country. He has 7.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify now. 1.5 million subscribers on Youtube. 3.7 million followers on Instagram. 480 million Youtube views.

But sure let's keep saying his music is not as good as the trash put out by rappers, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.
