I don't gamble on sports.

But I get why this is happening and I'm sure some players and staff and league officials fear for their safety sometimes.

I had to console a crying Ole MIss frat bro on bourbon street after we beat them. He said he lost $500 on the game. I was like you'll make it back bro. Gambling has its ups and downs.

And I thought about sending Dave a venmo request for $100 after the loss to Colorado for what he cost me.

This will probably only get worse as legalized gambling spreads to more states. The various sports leagues have no problem with this because increased sports gambling means increased viewers.

Even the gambling sharps out there are doing well if they are hitting on more than 55% of their bets. 97% of sports bettors are long term net losers.

If you can't keep a mindset that it's just for entertainment and be disciplined with your bankroll you are better off staying away. I'm guessing a lot of the fools being abusive on social media over game outcomes are not being disciplined bettors.

Some states allow sport betting at 18 years of age. That seems like a real recipe for disaster. I think most kids that age are not mentally mature enough yet to responsibly handle sports betting.

Been a while since I was a student at BU, but even back then sports gambling was one of the top vices with dudes. Seemed like there were more who gambled than did drugs or drink excessively.
