Baylor freshman wing Tounde Yessoufou has declared for the NBA Draft, according to a statement posted on Yessoufou’s social media. Yessoufou, however, didn’t mention whether he intends to keep his collegiate eligibility or enter the transfer portal.

Yessoufou received All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in his first season in Waco, averaging 17.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He shot 29% from beyond the arc, 47% from the field and 75% from the charity stripe. The Benin native set the all-time Baylor freshman records with 605 points scored, 226 field goals made and 486 field goals attempted.

Baylor men’s basketball has had a player selected in the first round in six straight seasons: Davion Mitchell (No. 9, 2021), Jeremy Sochan (No. 9, 2022), Keyonte George (No. 16, 2023), Ja’Kobe Walter (No. 19, 2024), Yves Missi (No. 21, 2024) and VJ Edgecombe (No. 3, 2025).

Most projections, however, place Yessoufou in the second round. The 2026 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 24–25 in Brooklyn, New York. To preserve his college eligibility, Yessoufou would have a 10-day window to withdraw after participating in the NBA Draft Combine, which runs May 10–17 in Chicago.

TY - Not sure where you are getting your projections and advice from but you need to stay in school another year...

Carr is projected First Rounder.....you are nowhere on the board for First or Second round....

I suppose during the combine you chat with teams to see draft potential?

This is what Butler and Teague did. The difference is the portal is also an option.

That site loses all credibility listing Yessoufou as a possible lottery pick.

This draft is potentially one of the deepest ever. No way Yessofou is first round, much less top 15. But he could be a first rounder next year.

Whether he comes back to Baylor or not (and I would love for him to come back here):

1. I really hope he either proves us all wrong and does better in the evaluations than we think he will and increases his potential draft position;

2. Or the evaluation stages show him and his agents he still needs to refine several areas of his game (like most of us believe, including basketball folks like Fran) and would be better served to spend another year in college and potentially improve his draft position from what it is now by addressing those improvement areas.

He seems like a really good guy who gave it his all while he was here, so I hope it works out for him one way or the other.
