SicEm365.com's Ashley Hodge, Levi Caraway and Jack Mackenzie are joined by Baylor Basketball expert Kendall Kaut to take a closer look at why Scott Drew's Bears are off to an 0-3 start in Big 12 play and what has to change moving forward.
The Baylor Men’s Basketball team (10-5, 0-3 Big 12) was out-rebounded and out-muscled by the visiting No. 7 Houston Cougars to the tune of a 77-55 loss on Saturday.
Cameron Carr scored 17 points for the Bears, but it was not enough to overcome a 19-for-62 shooting performance for the home team. This is the second straight game that Baylor scored under one point per possession.
It was a very clean game from Scott Drew’s Bears, with the Green and Gold only turning the ball over four times while assisting on 28 of 37 made buckets.
The Bears had their most blocks since 2019 and six players hit double figures, with redshirt sophomore wing Cameron Carr leading the way with 19 points.
Cameron Carr once again led all players in scoring with 27, but he and his teammates struggled to generate easy buckets against a great St. John’s defense.
A goal from graduate midfielder Kai Hayes erased a 1-0 second-half deficit, but the Bears could not turn the momentum from that equalizer into a winning goal. The Buckeyes dominated the majority of the game, peppering Azul Alvarez’s goal with 34 shots and 15 corners, forcing 10 saves.
Senior midfielder Tyler Isgrig scored the lone goal of the contest from the penalty spot in the final minute of the first half after senior defender Hannah Augustyn bravely drew the call as she attacked a cross.
