A week after dropping all the way out of the national top 25 rankings from No. 6, Baylor Soccer rebounded to No. 22 in the IWSOC/USC poll thanks to a pair of wins over Texas and Pepperdine.
The Bears are one of six Big 12 teams in the top 25. The other teams include No. 7 WVU, No. 13 UCF, No. 14 BYU, No. 19 TCU and No. 24 Colorado. Kansas and Texas Tech received votes.
Baylor’s only loss, Texas State, is still undefeated and rose to No. 17 this week.
The Bears did not jump higher, likely due to their wins not looking as impressive as expected with preseason No. 10 Arkansas sitting at 1-3-1 after further losses to current No. 9 North Carolina and RV Clemson.
The Bears next hit the field in Baton Rouge on Thursday for a game against LSU. The Tigers have struggled to open the season, sitting at 1-4-1. Their only win came against Northwestern State and losses to current No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 13 UCF, Florida Gulf Coast and Arizona State. Their lone draw was with Arizona.
LSU is also testing recent court orders concerning eligibility by playing a pair of defenders who were previously considered to be out of eligibility.
Baylor at LSU kicks off from Baton Rouge at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. It is the Bears' lone game of the week.
