Time to start pricing plane tickets for Phoenix....

Just saw this today and it gave me a laugh. First P4 win over a "non brand new to P4" team in almost 2 full years....and now we are getting a bowl projection.

I know at this point these aren't serious projections....but it cracked me up to see us projected now.

I definitely am feeling more optimistic about our chances after Saturday....but first I want to see it backed up with a win this weekend in a game where we are favored over the last place B12 team.

Gonna hold off on any travel plans for a bit longer. I suspect whatever bowl we might slip into there'll be plenty of tickets right up until kick off.

Look, I understand the sentiment of this post, but I don't think it is that outlandish to think that this Baylor team can make a bowl game, given what's left on the schedule. And McMurphy is known for doing weekly bowl projections, which is partially tongue in cheek as there is no way to possibly predict which teams will be in which bowl outside of a few of the games at the top as the season comes near the end.

Edit: My fault, i just read the rest of your post and saw that you also understand these are not entirely serious projections.

For those playing along at home....Brett still has projected in Phoenix playing Iowa.

But he has lowered his point spread from -7.5 to -6.5

I'm transparent. I was "Fire Aranda" after Colorado.

But BYI, Colorado, and ISU are at the top of the conference, and we had to play Utah with Cam Rising.

We have a front-loaded schedule. While I am not predicting it, we could reasonably win the last four ... going 2-2- seems like Pr(80%)+.

Rate Bowl… terrible name. Can they not force the bowls and companies to have an actual name on the bowl preceded by the company name. Like the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl or San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Why not the Rate Cactus Bowl or Rate Copper Bowl.

This. Barring Robertson going down, a bowl is more likely than not at this point, and 7 or 8 regular season wins are not completely off of the table.

SI and CBS Sports both say - Liberty Bowl: Baylor vs. Vanderbilt

Only problem this year is that they have torn down the stands on one side of the stadium for renovations and reduced capacity from mid 50K to low 30K, plus dealing with all the construction mess.

The latest projection is OU vs Baylor in the Texas Bowl (Houston). I'll be hoping for this match up.

That would be awesome, but it seems unlikely that the SEC would allow given their influence over which of their teams go to which non-NY6 bowls.

OU won't being going to bowl. They will be 5-7

Maybe there won't be enough 6-6 teams .

But yeah.. they're too proud of a program to accept an invite at 5-7.

Boring... we've already done that matchup.

A Vandy vs Baylor Liberty Bowl would draw about 15,000 so the stadium would still only look half full on TV.

2018 Vandy-BU Texas Bowl drew 51,104.

I don't think that changes the fact Baylor -Vandy would draw 15k in that bowl

THIS!

They literally allowed the Peach Bowl to become the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl...to become the Chick Fil A Bowl.

The bowls are more fun when there's a brand and a regionally affiliated name to coincide...okay with the exception of the Pop Tarts Bowl which is just hilarious and irreverent at this point.

Agree. I miss the bowl games having traditional (usually regional) names. If you want to addd a sponsor (Chik Fil A), then fine, but don't drop Peach.

You are correct. They dropped Peach from 2006-2013 according to Wikipedia

And either way the point stands. They've screwed up a lot of good bowl names. I can't even trace some of the bowls back anymore.

This is "the one in Phoenix" - b/c I can't keep up anymore either.

Nothing like the CEO of some financial company giving a speech at kickoff about how his value at Bank XYZ line up with those of college football - blah, blah, blah.

And then some other exec I don't care about handing the trophy to the winning coach.
