Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua Returns to Baylor, Completes Scott Drew’s Coaching Staff
Head coach Scott Drew and Baylor men’s basketball have finalized their coaching staff for the 2026-27 season, as former standout Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua re-joins the program to round out an assistant coaching group that includes Ron Sanchez, Jerome Tang, Jake Lindsey and Tweety Carter.
Tchamwa Tchatchoua won a National Championship with the Bears in 2021 and played in 85 games across his Baylor career. In 2022, he earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award and was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. A devastating knee ended his season on Feb. 12, 2022, against Texas, and he returned to the court 347 days later, scoring eight points against Texas Tech on Feb. 4, 2023.
Upon graduation after the 2023-24 season, Tchamwa Tchatchoua spent the last two years working as the Basketball Operations Video Assistant with the San Antonio Spurs.
“This staff is built on Baylor Family,” Drew said in a Baylor Athletics press release. “We have champions, proven coaches, and three men who once wore this uniform. There’s something special about looking out at practice and seeing our former players coaching the next generation. That kind of loyalty and experience is what makes this staff so strong, and I couldn’t be more excited about where this program is headed.”
