Feels about right, tbh. There are some schools within a few spots above us that I might want the math double checked, but I think anywhere in the 38-46 range would seem accurate.

I am actually shocked we are this high. We are higher than UCLA, the Arizona schools, BYU, etc. I was a Mississippi State fan growing up. I think we should be above them, but they get that nice SEC revenue too.

My thought is that actual valuation experts would cringe at this.

Obviously any evaluation comes down to the reliability and completeness of the data source as well as the correctness of the data weighting.

That said, some of those rankings are not remotely close to valuations used by broadcasters.
Some WAY too high. Some WAY too low. Many slightly high or low.

It should also be noted that it is a value photo when most folks use value projections.
Baylor hugely benefits both from older broadcast data [2010-2015] as well as from future population trends.
Baylor is one of the schools most impacted from a current "point in time" valuation.

I have no idea as to the accuracy of the numbers, but if you had asked me where Baylor ranked in the hierarchy of teams based upon value - I would have guessed somewhere around where we landed in this list.

Quote:

It isn't surprising that the top of the list is dominated by SEC and Big Ten schools due largely to each conference's massive media rights deals.

In aggregate, the SEC is worth $13.3 billion, an average of $832 million per school; followed by the Big Ten at $13.2 billion, an average of $734 million per school; the ACC at $9.6 billion, or $562 million per school; and the Big 12, at $6.7 billion, or $420 million per school.
To think Vandy and Ms State get double our media income is mind boggling. And according to insiders the ACC contract will continue to put distance between us and the ACC every year going forward.

A large portion of this is assessing the present value of the income stream, which is, of course, higher for SEC and BIG schools based upon their TV contract.

I kind of thought that too, but the revenue compared to valuation is all over the board.

I understood, perhaps incorrectly, that SMU paid their way into the ACC for ten years. I wonder how the money would flow to SMU if they are successful in advancing through the playoffs? Would this playoff revenue be separate income and they will share with other ACC teams?

CNBC Fast Money just had the creater of this list on now. He detailed how NIL was formed four years ago and since that time has agreed to backpay billions to players in the last decade. And that will increase in the coming years.

He says schools in the middle pack will find their budgets wrecked. It will be impossible to fund the NIL backpay. The solution is Private Equity.

His example was Clemson who formed Clemson Ventures which he believes was formed as Private Equity to fund leaving the ACC.

I have a feeling this is a rubber band that is being stretched to the maximum before it breaks.

That's all someone's guess. But no chance we're above UCLA, Cuse, SMU

I noted we ranked 13th out of all schools in the XII and ACC combined. I did not include ND as ACC. Also more valuable than 5 B10 schools. It should be noted.

Is Cougar High the only P4 school outside the Top 75? Yikes.
