From Ut message board-

Based on what we know, the most likely name IT has heard to replace Tashard Choice is Khenon Hall from Baylor. No relation to Kenneth Hall. Coach Hall has the reputation as a fantastic recruiter and already has a relationship with Javian Osborne from Forney. Regardless of position, Osborne is one of Texas' top 2025 recruiting targets.

Hall is one of those guys that if you remove his current logo and replace it with UT he'll hit the ground running on the recruiting trail.

Saying he's most likely doesn't mean he's going to get it. It's probably a coin flip at this point that it's him or someone else. There are a ton of agents trying to get their guy in front of Sark and the head man may look to go with someone who helps unlock a different region.

I was worried about him going to Texas if the running back coach position was open. I didn't see where the running back coach was leaving Texas though and see nothing on footballscoop from the last couple of days about any of this.

If he wants to leave, that's fine. I would hate to lose him, but he was/is not a guy that is going to stick around for a long time.

I googled it. UT running back coach supposedly being hired by the Detroit Lions

See a few reports that Ra'Shaad Samples out of Oregon could be UT's target.

I just googled and saw that just last week after talking to the Cowboys, Raiders and Saints, he announced he is staying at Texas and got a raise of excess of of 800K a year. So I'm not real sure Texas is really on the verge of an opening. This may be kind of old news. Like I said I had heard last week the Texas RB coach may be leaving and I was worried about our own RB coach being in that mix , but never stated anything here about that concern. I also recall seeing something about him staying at Texas but did not pay attention to the detail last week. I think this could all be old news by old, I mean about a week old. In other words I'm not sure about all of this now.

Tashard Choice (Texas RB coach and recruiter) briefly consulted with the Cowboys a couple of weeks ago. He declined that position (honestly, who would possibly take a Cowboys coaching position right now if he were already employed). Texas increased his salary after that.

However, the Detroit Lions also had an opening. In Detroit, Choice gets a chance to reunite with his "star pupil" from Georgia Tech, Jamarie Ghibbs. Choice is taking that job - leaving a RB coach job open at Texas.

Rashard Samples from Oregon is a thought, but very unlikely due to Oregon's intention to unload money on any of their current staff. He's just not important enough for Texas to get into a bidding war over. Another choice is Cadillac Williams, as he was apparently not retained when Pete Carroll took over the head coaching job of the Las Vegas Raiders. He's of interest due to his knowledge of recruiting the southeastern states while at Auburn.

Kherson Hall is currently Texas' prime target.

Well going to a blue blood would be a big move for him. I doubt we can afford or are willing to spend what it would take to win a bidding war with Texas over a position coach regardless as to how much we value him and want him to stay. I mean we will go into a bidding war but will not be willing to break the bank over it if Texas is, is what I am saying.

A RB coach usually isn't valued too much for his skill in making RBs better. He's usually a guy with familiarity with a territory and high school coaches in that area. His big move is usually recruiting the position.

I heard Ole Miss RB coach Kevin Smith is prime target.

If TT won a staffing showdown with ND maybe we can win one with UT. They would no doubt out gun us....but who knows.

Some other crazy headlines:

Art Briles, most winning BU coach, is being fired for no real reason
Kim Mulkey, national championship coach, is being sacked so LSU can be a great team again
Also this just in, Matt Rhule, BU football coach, insists he has no interest in the NFL but if he did he would become the most successful HC ever.

I don't worry about UT taking people from us, ever. All they offer that we don't is more chaos.

CBS sports is reporting that WVU RB coach Chad Scott will be named the new UT RB coach. As per football scoop

I am curious about this Hall objectively would be the hands down pick for Texas along with the Oregon RB coach. Were we already paying Hall so well Texas didn't want to start a bidding war over a position coach that lasted long and got crazy and Baylor upped enough to close it down. I can see the Oregon RB coach being in that position I would be a little, though pleasantly, surprised we have Hall in that position. Although we do put money into this these days that is for sure. . Did Hall flat out not have interest?

The Texas hire ended up being a bit out of the blue. No pun intended toward WVU's colors. Although I do understand why Texas would have interest in him, their pick wasn't one of the "hot names" being talked about.
