It looks like - subject to minor items - the B1G and SEC have exclusive control in terms of deciding the format of the CFP (including the CFP committee) beginning in 2026. To that end, it seems increasingly likely that the B1G and SEC will automatically have an unequal amount of bids vs the rest of the P4.

I guess I'm not nearly as worked up about what the Big 2 will be getting in this new proposal as some are. Having the Big 12 getting the two (2) AQ slots, plus a chance at a potential 3rd qualifier (with one of the three At-Large slots) will generate an increased amount of interest in the conference race, once the season gets started.

That is especially true if the Big 12 officials can come up with a reasonable plan to institute some end-of-season "play-in" games into future schedules, and if the SEC goes to a format of nine (9) conference games (making it harder but admittedly not impossible for another SEC team to get one of those slots).

"Just making the playoffs" has been the main interest-driver of the majority of Big 12 followers, not agonizing over the relative dominance of the Big 2. Sad or not, "such is the order of things"!

I'm about done with college football

It is truly sad that these money grubbing *******s running college football can't figure this out. There is enough money for everyone.

The P2 has poached teams and revenue from other conferences every chance they get. ESPN and FOX are equally culpable with the ridiculously favorable TV contracts and blatantly ignoring anything west of the Mississippi as irrelevant. Nobody on the West Coast cared about the SEC until it was the only option to watch on Saturday because of Network programming and jamming stuff down the viewers throat.

ESPN and Fox killed the PAC10. Tried to kill the Big 12 once and is currently trying to do it again along with the ACC. There was a time when the SWC was the best conference in college football. How times have changed.

Networks and their money are killing the greatest viewer sport out there.

Go back to regional conferences. It was a better overall product.

Will not happen but I can dream.
