Well ain't that some bullshirt.

Last year the B10 paid its member schools $63 million each...but they've got to tag the whole student body to help cover player costs?

We had a "fee" for our "free" tickets back in the day. Not sure about these times. Not that unusual except that it's likely going straight to paying players.

Minn already had a "Student Services Fee" in place that included admission to sports events. This new "athletic fee" is on top of that.

But the tampons are still free. Minnesnowta can sigh in relief.

When I was there, we had to pay a fee for the Marina. The marina was down because of the bridge. Still had to pay.

I thought that athletes deserved to be paid because they brought millions of dollars into the program. It is wrong to make students pay an extra fee.

I did not mind paying an activity fee when I was at Baylor, but athletes then were not getting paid NIL, and the Tv revenues were much less.

Another nail in the coffin of NCAA D1 football.

Sadly I think this will be the norm. Increase in fees for students and increase in ticket prices to pay players NIL or for when they become "employees."

And if they become employees I feel that will be the end of most sports teams at universities as many think/predict it could basically end Title IX protections.

And people will stop going to games if they have to pay higher prices to pay players a salary AND those same players are getting large NIL deals.

Then again there are people who are just that dedicated to their teams that they will pay small fortunes for tickets no matter what.

The people that get burned now are the universities whose alumni demanded millions in facilities for an amateur team.

Stadium naming rights, sponsors on the field. Sponsors on every open wall across every stadium we have. Tarp the tunnel with a Pepsi logo like the cowboys did.

Its simple we just need to do it Jerry Jones style. Sponsor everything!
Changing the culture one road tailgate at a time.
Its ok to attend away games! No really its fun!
Meet me on ROW 1!

I'm all for innovation and schools trying to do new things. Minnesota has a pretty captive market so I'm sure it will initially be met with resistance then it will end up becoming the norm if the fee remains flat.

That is not sustainable though, the fee will likely increase each year. What is the breaking point if subsidizing athletes who aren't committed to the school for more than one year at a time?

Sadly I think you are not far from what will happen. The entire stadium will be covered in ads.

Helmets and jerseys will be like NASCAR uniforms with sponsor patches all over.

On the bright side, Baylor will have to start selling beer to help raise revenue.

I always just keep thinking, OK, more ways to pour money into paying players. I like football, not necessarily million dollar salaries softball pitchers, but good for them. But money isn't infinite. What university resources suffer when fans pour more into players?

And the coffin 100% needs to be shut.
