Everyone says that we will be able to move the ball because they replaced defensive starters but if you look at it it is a veteran unit with a lot of returning players.

Offense is constantly playing catch up as Daves defense continues faltering.

We lose on the final drive where their quarterback has a couple nice scrambles to set up a winning field goal

Post-game: Same handful of posters tell us all week about how we will totally win the conference, but even if we win five games, it's still a great success and that we're not allowed to expect more

Our secondary and play calling is what it is but front 7 looks improved and defense does well holding SMU to field goals in the red zone. Washington gets more running room which improves our red zone performance on offense.

Except we can expect some really strange decisions, that either work beyond all odds, or end up throwing away valuable field position and points, one way or another. But that's not a prediction. It is just what is typical.

I think Auburn is a substantially more talented team than SMU and that we actually improve on defense a week after a tough opener. SMU seemed sloppy despite their massive win over a below average FCS program.

Defense finally forces some turnovers and they don't have a significant answer for our passing attack which opens up the run.

I predict Sawyer will remember he can run downfield occasionally.

42-34 Baylor

35-28 SMU. We get it to the 3 yard line with 2 minutes left in a tied 28-28 tie ball game. We run it up the gut 3 straight times resulting in zero yards, and proceed to miss on a 4th down pass to a double covered tight end resulting in a turnover on downs. SMU gets ball back and it is 3rd and 10 on the their own 3, the opposing QB scrambles for a 15 yard gain and first down. Then next play he hits deep on a go route busted coverage by our secondary.....GAME.......exciting but disappointing game.

These predictions are just reality adjusting to the on field product we saw Saturday. Looking at the rest of the schedule, which game do you see remaining where you would feel comfortable guaranteeing a win besides Samford?

Both Romello Brinson and Jordan Hudson are game-time decisions with injuries, according to PonyFans. Both went in for X-rays after last week's game, and while both tests returned negative, they may both be too banged up to go. I guess we'll see!

41-27 SMU. I think Sawyer is asked to do too much and ends up turning it over once or twice. Defense struggles in space with SMU weapons.

If they are down two starting receivers, that absolutely will make a difference. Lets see if they suit up.

With Dave as coach, I really don't feel comfortable guaranteeing any game as a win. I feel decent about Oklahoma State as they are down their starting qb, as well as Samford, UCF and UH at home. Everything else is going to be 50/50 at best

That's really the problem. A team that has a theoretical 8 win ceiling could just as easily end up 6-6 or 3-9/4-8 under his "leadership".

Starting MLB Kilgore was on crutches and almost certainly won't play. Probably their best returning linebacker who had a pick 6 in week one. Big loss for them. Perhaps somewhat comparable to our loss of Jackie. [in unrelated news, Bryson is angry and restless]

45-31 Baylor. SMU isn't in Auburn's class defensively, or offensively for that matter. Game wont be as close as the score.

Our fans consider a 14 point loss to be a close game based on what's been said about last Friday night, so along those same lines it will be a close one Saturday:

Y'all clearly didn't watch SMU play poorly in Week 1 and it shows.

Their D is missing 9 starters. No matter how you slice it, they are playing like they are missing 9 starters this early in the season.

I did watch the BU defense, while I was sweating in the stadium.

But if we play the same way as we did last week against SMU's D, it won't be the same result.

Maybe SMU is overrated. I would argue that they were keeping things very vanilla and probably treating it more like a warm-up game. I remember us looking not very good against Texas State in 2021 just as a for instance
