Just got another email from LadyPrez. I was able to copy it this time:

Over the past several weeks, Baylor University has undertaken a comprehensive review of our athletics leadership and the future of our football program. This process has been marked by prayerful consideration, candid conversations and a deep commitment to our Christian mission and values.

This decision reflects several critical factors:
Stability during transition: Our next Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics must have the opportunity to assess the football program and chart its long-term direction;
Student-athlete experience: Retaining our current roster and protecting a nationally ranked recruiting class are essential to our future success; and
Financial stewardship: In an era of extreme volatility in college athletics with NIL, the transfer portal, revenue-sharing, and much more, this approach allows us to invest wisely in the program's future rather than incur significant buyout costs during an unprecedented turnover of coaches across the country.

We acknowledge the frustrations many of you feel, and we share in them. Baylor Football has experienced both historic highs and challenging seasons under Coach Aranda. While we celebrate the Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl victory in 2021, we know this season has not met our shared expectations.

Please know that our team respects and loves playing for Coach Aranda. I can also attest he aligns with Baylor's Christian mission and is an incredible ambassador for our University.

Our strength as a university has always come from our ability to stand together students, alumni, faculty and staff, and fans united by faith and shared purpose. While opinions may differ, our commitment to supporting our student-athletes and representing Baylor with integrity must remain unwavering. Let us rally behind our team, encourage one another and demonstrate the unity that makes Baylor special.

Your support emotional, spiritual and financial matters tremendously. Our student-athletes deserve a program that makes you proud, and we remain committed to building a team that competes for championships and reflects Baylor's values.

Our search for a new Athletics Director is underway, and I am confident we will welcome a new leader who will usher in a new era of competitive success and embrace our fans in new and exciting ways. Thank you for standing with us through both the challenges and the celebrations.

This is what I expected when I heard about Rhoades. The timing of replacing both just doesn't work to allow a new AD and new coach to have confidence in each other.

Baylor gonna Baylor EPIC failure by Linda. Dave will officially bottom the ship out next season. But it won't matter. Might as well give dip**** Dave a lifetime contract

Of course he is staying. You don't rush to hire an AD and then immediately tell him/her they've got to fill their FB HC role in the worst market to be attracting a coach ever.

By this time next year, DA is either fired or a lame duck, and new AD has been working on a replacement for months. Far better scenario for the school to be in.

2026 gonna suck, but it was gonna suck regardless

This is such a "**** you" to a fan base that has been hanging on by a thread for three-plus years now with this clown.

I have never in my life rooted for a Baylor team to fail, but I hope we go 2-10 next year and play every home game in front of 15,000 fans.

That's what this administration deserves. Everyone who said that our leadership doesn't actually care about winning was proven right today. And it cares even less about the fans who pay their hard-earned money and carve out weekends at a time to support this ****-ass program.

Your last sentence is why you move on now. There's sooooo many good options on the coaching market to get ahead of the rebuild. But no… let's run it back with the ****ing failure that is Dave Aranda.

I love how she says that Baylor does not accept mediocrity and then keeps a mediocre coach. Baylor can't be taken seriously anymore. I've had season tickets for over 30 years, but they are testing my resolve. The stadium is going to be empty next year.

Good job Baylor. You continue to make brilliant decisions. Every other school can somehow afford buyouts, but BU has to keep a bad coach so that we can save for NIL. What good is NIL $ if the coach can't get them to perform?

Linda is going to get blasted for this decision.

That makes the decision to renew season tickets for next season much easier. I'm done.

I haven't actually cared about a Baylor football game since the Cincinnati loss. And now we get to go through a whole season of that *****

It is just incomprehensible to me that any reasonable decision-maker would think it's a good idea to punt another season in the current college football landscape/climate.

She doesn't care about football. I've seen many on here make that claim. Never really put any stock in it. But actions speak louder than words. She just told the entire fanbase she gives zero ****s about the football program. I'm obviously not an alum so I can't even be mad at her. But it's easy to see why so many alums are slowly giving up on the program.

This is a frustrating position to be in - thanks, Mack - you really screwed us over.

I do agree with this point and therefore, we just have to wait. No high quality athletic director is going to take this job, if he or she is told - the football program has been evaluated and we already made the necessary personnel decisions - it's just not realistic at this point.

This is better than rushing it and ending up with Steele II. That had a much higher probability than landing Briles II. I suspect y'all's dream coach, and someone I had high interest in, the UNT guy is already under contract with OSU and it isn't announced yet.

It's funny you mention Steele. That's exactly where Dave's program is headed. But pop the champagne bottle Party. Your boy Dave gets to come back another year and continue burying the program.

I get there's a lot of programs competing for coaches. How can you say for sure next year is going to be any better? Morris is out there. I'm not saying he'd be a given to come here, but I'd sure as heck make an effort. He probably won't be available next year.

He'll probably make a heck of a coach somewhere. It just looks like it won't be Baylor. Opportunity lost.

There's enormous opportunity cost in sucking while building toward nothing.

Not only does it put any reasonable standard of success another year in the rear view and set the future coach we all know will be replacing Dave at some point even further back, it also allows another Big 12 team or two to pass us with a coach we could have hired -- as Houston already has with Willie Fritz.

We're walking in quicksand while everyone else is running the most important race of their existence.

Our administration is ****ing clueless.

I'm not that shocked, really, other than fan consensus had moved to about 100 percent for removal in the last few weeks. I thought it had become nearly a foregone conclusion. Welp...

They really really really seem want it to work with Dave. I don't even think it's just about the time window and buyouts and such.

It seems to be a huge gamble as far as fan reaction and next years ticket sales, if they care at all about that.

Not that this season any longer matters that much in the grand scheme of things, but I imagine it is going to be beyond uncomfortable if Baylor doesn't even win another game and make it to a bowl.

Keeping Dave has already allowed Cincy, Houston and Az to pass BU. I suspect I'll be able to add Okie St to that list this time next year. But remember Dave is a good man. That's truly what matters

Most of the time when I see a public statement of support for a struggling head coach, I take it with a grain of salt, as we've all seen them get fired shortly afterwards. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case here.

This one seems a bit different. Doesn't look at all like the usual cloaked non-support of an employee that's about to get the boot.

We aren't the only ones choosing to stay the course one more year. Wisconsin previously announced they are keeping Fickell, even though they are currently 3-7 and, outside of scoring 42 against MTSU, have scored only 78 points total in their other 9 games.

Likely a bad decision for the long term health and stability of the football program.

After the next GOR period passes, the landscape of major college football is going to change.

Major League College Football is going to prefer TCU and/ or SMU to a mediocre program located in a mediocre market.

We may just find ourselves in a lower division in a few years. The stadium will need to be downsized, but the travel will be better.

I predict that we will be in the AAC with a couple Sunbelt members and maybe a few big 12 leftovers within the next eight years. The issue like so many problems is money.
