I watched the video again tonight and realized how fortunate Tech is to have a leader like this as chair of the Regents or whatever they are titled. I compare his philosophy against ours and the difference is overwhelming.
Just listen to his understanding of Tech's place in the blue blood order and what Tech has to offer.

Then I compared against our BOR. The first surprise to me was 1/3 (3) of the Executive Committee (9 members) are from the BGCT. Stewart, Maciel and Cooper are BGCT members of the Executive Committee.

The other BGCT or Pastors who are members are Wells, Parker, Hendrickson, Dillard, Arterbury (Truett). I would appreciate anyone with knowledge of the board just how interested in football these members may be or how closely they follow or care about Aranda. We certainly know they threw their weight around in firing an AD for something as silly as indiscretion instead of grabbing a player or assistant coach.

Back in the Briles days there were apparently only 3 or 4 Regents who controlled the athletic program. I wonder today if any are really that interested. The Chair is an accountant and most are extremely professional in their careers but athletics? Not sure.

Anyone but the aggies please

First Tech is not in the blueblood world.

Secondly I would guess in Guy Morriss final season just before the hiring of Briles, you had the same feelings about Baylor's leadership not caring about football.

In fact there were folks who said hiring Briles and not Singletsty was an act of not caring about football. That is how off these boards are and how this board, which is worse than BFans back then was. should be put into perspective.

I don't think he was saying Tech was a blue blood. But where they fit in the blue blood order.

Shame on Art for taking Baylor football to an elite level. Was too good to be true.

His biggest mistake was assuming Baylor leadership really wanted a dominant, winning football program, when what many really wanted was to perpetuate the good ole days when basically the entire student body fit into the SUB bowl.

He didn't claim they were. He explained the pecking order. See Stefano DiMera's reply below yours.

I didn't realize at the time of hiring Briles that the BMD's ran around the BOR and ran the program. If they hadn't taken over the program we would still have Guy Morriss.

The BOR has absolutely decided that we are not an institution of football. The BOR is so afraid of what the other members of the Board will think if they don't tow the Mission line. They told us that when they fired Briles. Even worse they told us again that a lousy coach like your guy Aranda can stay. Even worse than that they fired an AD over an indiscretion of Mission but they didn't fire him for man handling an assistant coach and player.

We are ****ed.

Now that Texas Tech's regular season has come to end, it seems as though Texas Tech's success would hurt the perception of the Big 12 as much as it helps it in the sense that there is a common sentiment that there is a level above the Big 12's best, and Texas Tech's combination of its accumulation of talent for the 2025 season, its the field success in conference play in 2025, and its lack of such success prior to such accumulation of talent (i.e. 5-6 loss seasons with McGuire) would support that sentiment. This sentiment would be further supported in the unlikely event that Texas Tech is embarrassed in the CFP*.

*As everyone saw with TCU vs. Georgia, being embarrassed in the CFP is not limited to losing your first CFP game.

Anyone have the ability to post the regents' email addresses?

I think Tech has a shot. I wouldn't pick them and the draw is important but the defense is legit.

The only big 12 teams in the playoff era that were good enough to win the whole thing imo, in order of likelihood:

1) 14' Tcu
2) 15' Bu (before Seth went down)
3) Ou that went to OT with Georgia
4) This years Tech
5) 24' Texas
