I hope we don't bite

If he's not good enough for Oregon, then is most definitely not good enough for us.

Most guys in his shoes would have been on his third transfer by now.

It's kinda funny how a lot of fans say a Baylor star with eligibility left would be stupid to not jump to the NFL for millions.
Most of the same people have have permanent jihad hatred for a high school kid who got a last minute offer he couldn't refuse from a top tier program that backed up the truck to flip him. And that means the kid lacks character.
This is college football. It is what it is.
There ain't no character left in this game.

As I recall, I think the wrinkle was that AN (or his father) wanted to know that AN was *the guy* for Baylor and demanded CDA and staff NOT recruit any other QBs in that cycle as a show BU's commitment to AN. In exchange, AN, as a 4-star QB who was probably a better prospect Han BU would otherwise land, was willing to firm commit to Baylor early in the process.
When AN flipped at the very last second, BU was left with zero QB options for the class as the staff had dropped all other QB recruits at the demand of AN or his father. I don't necessarily blame the family for grabbing the cash, but it did us dirty in a way that was unusual.
This is the eternal riddle (not just in sports) of whether it is better to be a big fish in a small pond or go to the biggest pond possible. The NFL has long standing data that one of the strongest predictors of success for NFL QB prospects is number of starts in college. The correlation/causation is hard to tease out, but the data points in a very clear direction. The reality is that the difference between 24 starts 36 or 40+ in college is material. In the short term it was best for AN to go to Eugene. If this thing fizzles out for him as he now jumps into the transfer carousel he will wonder if it would have been better for his NFL dreams to go to Waco.

Oregon buys QBs every portal season because Novasad is not it.

I guess Sawyer wasn't good enough for Miss State, either.
And Cam Ward wasn't good enough for anybody.
So sure, Novasad isn't good enough for Oregon and their room full of 5-stars.
You don't know until you know. You gotta add talent, and if it's not so pricey that's a good thing. And Novasad even has more experience than any current Baylor qb, as little as that is, and likely far more capable of stepping in.
Get somebody with talent in the mix. But don't overpay and lessen your OL and DL potential by having to scrimp. None of them are going to flourish without a very good line and a vasty better defense to take some pressure off of the offense.
Get over the prejudice. People are all over Lagway primarily because of his legacy ties, and are against Novasad because he got money-whipped by Oregon to flip and didn't win the starting job against other top talent that was handsomely paid.
Lagway would be cool to have, but he also has his issues. He also had some top weapons to work with that Baylor currently does not have. If he comes it has to be at a bargain price. Same with Novasad. If they were able to get him on the roster, cool. But it shouldn't come at the expense of having him compete for the position, and maybe even add another candidate. Roll them out and let the best man win.
Sawyer is a different perspective. The guy was Leachs last QB recruit - I get it if he wanted to leave with a different HC coming in.
Novo can pound sand.

Heard Baylor only offered him a fraction of what Oregon did. I don't blame him
That was back when Aranda wanted to pay every kid on the roster the same amount of money
