By the same team that would easily murder us again…34-7.
Had we been stupid enough to accept the DEI bid.

While I wouldn't argue that we should have accepted a bowl bid, that's not the bowl we turned down. It was Birmingham.

Point 1 was 5-7 is DEI.
Point #2 is Texas State would have kicked our @ss again if we'd decided DEI is redeeming. Georgia State too, for that matter, whether it was Birmingham or your backyard.

It's just going to feel that way.
Counting the 5 Groundhog Day games, yes.Johnny Bear said:Yogi said:

Looks like someone was on a roll.
I think you meant Georgia Southern, though, who was 6-6. Georgia State was horrible this year (1-11).
But let's be honest.
While we struggled this year, we likely would have waxed both Georgia Southern and Texas State (who also finished the season 6-6).
Not sure why folks are so bent out of shape about having been offered a bowl bid at 5-7. We could have easily been 6-6 had we taken the easy path and scheduled a Sun Belt or MAC team instead of Auburn in Week 1.
Had that been the case, would everyone still have been up in arms about accepting a mid-level bowl with a 6-6 record?
At least we had the guts to schedule a couple of worthy opponents out of conference. Just didn't work out as we'd hoped.
But our 5-7 record still would have been on par with a lot of 6-6 records that did qualify for a bowl.
Which is why I would have had no problem accepting the bowl bid under these circumstances and finishing the season on somewhat of a positive note.

The sad thing is with the current NIL paradigm, I believe we are closer peers to Texas State than we are Texas Tech
