Both finished 11-1

Both lost a conference game. #4 Baylor lost 27-41 to an unranked West Virginia. TCU lost to #5 Bears 61-58.

Both went to a bowl game. #6 TCU blasted #9 Ole Miss 42-3. #5 Baylor collapsed to #8 Michigan State.

Final polls have TCU ranked #3. Baylor finished #7.

Both teams claim Big 12 Championships. Both have the same trophy.

All I am saying is that we both finished 11-1 and while we lost a lot of momentum, TCU rose up and finished strong. They impressed.

I wonder why the Bears were lackluster in the Cotton Bowl?

Undisciplined.......block in the back 10+ yards behind the play on what would have been a pick-six and then offensive face mask preventing a touchdown....just to mention a few. UNDISCIPLINED play was a characteristic of what was a great team.

Mostly when we had "bad dudes". That's not allowed anymore. Frankly I'm surprised we have any black players. This program is straining to be on par with Abilene Christian, McMurry, Howard Payne, Incarnate Word etc.

Art called them "bad dudes". Nobody else did. Is Art then racist by calling them "bad dudes". Were you sure all of the "bad dudes" were black?

Any black players??????

Go look at our current commits. I'm still thinking maybe 2 kids are white bread.

The vapors over the term "bad dudes" has always been hysterical. It's an old school term for any kind of tough guys, or just cool guys. Has absolutely nothing to do with race or criminal activity. But people gonna people.

I used to play an old martial arts tournment video game called Bad Dudes, like back in the 80s when they still had arcades and games at the movie theater.

lmao, so Art's infamous quote "why was she hanging out with those guys, they're bad dudes?" Actually meant "why is she claiming to have been gang raped by those guys, they're Just Cool Guys."

Ok, sure.

Because he's a father, and like any father would not like a young daughter hanging around alone with a bunch of football players.

I was at the MSU Cotton Bowl. I had a perfect view of the McGowan 400 pounder touchdown to go up 41-21. The entire team and coaching staff in my view COMPLETELY checked out after that…. Laughing and carrying on on the sideline, which was our brand……

MSU was good, and we lost focus, and yes, some bad breaks/mistakes mentioned above and it was a disaster. One of the saddest endings in my fandom. I love Briles, but Cignetti I doubt would have checked out at 41-21.

And Baylor still should have won if either of two blatant holding penalties was called on that fourth down throw for a TD.

What has always pissed me off about that quote was that we had some very "bad dudes" on the football team when I attended Harvard on the Brazos.....and this was when Kevin Steele was the coach.

There are virtually no P4 programs that don't have some number of "bad dudes" on the roster, especially including the ones that win. Not suggesting that's a good thing (it isn't) but it's always been ridiculous to maintain that CAB's rosters were some kind of exception to the rule in that regard.

the block in the back was undisciplined. The stiff arm that was called a hand to the face or whatever was complete bs and that will never be called again as long as the game will be played. That still pissed me off.

I think we're about as good as we are interested in being right now.

I mean, we'd like to be a little better. Making a bowl game would be nice. But we aren't that concerned about it.

A number of schools with larger NIL outlays than Indiana last season either didn't make the CFP or were eliminated of the gate.

IU's outlay this coming season may be another story. We'll see.

2015?

Where was I in 2015? That was a long time ago. Surely you meant to refer to the 2021 season when Baylor posted a 12-2 season? #5 in the nation!

Let's see, in 2015…..…Alabama was #1 followed by Clemson, Stanford, Ohio State and then a Big 12 team, Oklahoma. TCU was #7. Wait a second……there's Baylor at #13.

It's where you finish that counts. You've got to finish strong. You've got to impress in your bowl game.

2021 was incredible. Football and bball were nationally relevant.

I thought we were about to be one of the new big dogs in the B12 with UT and OU leaving.

I did too but we had Mack looking the other way, then the bottom fell out. He was monument building instead of managing the program.

Unbelievable how quickly and thoroughly we squandered that momentum.

You could argue that Baylor athletics at this moment is across the board the least interesting it has been since the late 90s.

When intercollegiate athletics is understood as more than glorified intramurals by more Baylor people, that will change, and greatly for better.

The house cleaning should've been kicked off as soon as we went from that snobby "person over player, just be glad you're playing at this fine Christian university, don't ask about money, we want players with good character not money grabbers!!" to,

"yeeaaah we pay players!! do you want cash, cause we got it! It's on our shirt!"

To me, that was the final straw showing that Mack, Dave and the rest of the admin weren't on the same page and had no real vision for athletics in the NIL era. I know Doug was supposed to be the hire to unite the fan base, and I'm sure he's doing what he can, but the limited insider view points from our big money folks (e.g. the Drayton McLane interview from several months back) don't paint a rosie picture
