My memory is that Platt was formerly a track athlete, but I believe Mims on the other hand was football all the way.

It didn't help theat most didn't pan out or were busts at the NFL level ( Kendall Wright, KD Cannon, Corey Coleman come to mind). But just the fact that we had the reputation of having the crazy offense was such a huge marketing tool. That's really our issue nowadays, we have absolutely nothing to distinguish us from everyone else

There's a difference between being "WRU" and being an NFL ready WR factory. True, we probably weren't the latter, but for at least a five year no period, IMO, we were the former.

I agree with that. I guess it all depends on the definition of WRU. It goes back to the other comment I've made about having a niche. With Briles, it was high octane offense. With Rhule, it was toughness, defense, ball control. I have no clue what our team culture is, or what our niche is going into year seven with Aranda. That's really a non-negotiable, especially when you can't just buy the best talent to plug and play every year

Even if Baylor had the money, not sure Aranda could put together or coach a "plug and play" outfit of high dollar 4&5 stars.

Ummm ... Plenty of stain on our program when he showed up. I get the part about being pissed off because 1v foot out the door. Funny how he and Bill OBrien have had nearly identical career arcs (although BoB did win in the NFL) under very similar circumstances.

Maybe because the DB was a 4.2 guy?

What I keep remembering is that if Rhule's offense could have generated 1-2 first downs in the 4th qtr, there is no OT.

The term "WRU" (or "DBU," "QBU," etc.) refers to exactly that, though. It's your college's ability to put successful guys in the pros. That's why tOSU and LSU have been battling for it for the last 15 years. Look at both those school's track record of guys at the next level and compare that to ours, even in the Veer & Shoot's heyday. It's night and day different.

Now, if we're arguing over what the term "WRU" actually means, that's a different discussion. But we should at least acknowledge that the way you're defining it is different from the way every other college fanbase defines it.

At that point in his career, Platt had come back from injury which had apparently made him at least a step slower. Pre injury Platt probably takes that to the house.
