Technically, he would be considered a bust because he didn't progress to better heights after his rookie season, and didn't reach the expectations of a top 2 pick in the draft. But it wasn't for lack of talent. Shanahan screwed him up playing him on a torn ACL in a playoff game he led them to. Then he bounced around in poor situations.

Sam Darnold was considered bust until he got with a good organization that built him back up the right way, and found his way into far better situations, and now he's a Champion.
