Heard its being discussed today. Does it happen? I know everything evolves but I hate how much different college football is today compared to 25 years ago.

I still think it should be 16 with no advantages to any P2 teams. The could even incorporate existing bowl games into the mix the way they do with the NY6 bowls.

More games that matter is a good thing, so 20 or 24 or 32 or 64!

They are pros now and not students so we no longer need to worry about players missing class.

I really want an 8 team playoff, but this is my second choice.

Personally, I think the conferences are too big. The geography is nonsense. (Especially when you move beyond football).

If I live another 30 years, I will have no interest in Oregon vs Rutgers in week six. Can someone name one rivalry born out of the mergers that's worth mentioning? Texas Alabama? Not for me.

I would prefer conferences that were strictly regional and limited to 10 or 12 teams. In such a scenario the conference championships could be the first round in a 16 team playoff.

Is Baylor even the second best football team in McLennan County, Texas?

This sport blows now. There's nowhere near as much excitement as there used to be. And I say that as someone who graduated 3 years ago!

Rivalry sort of implies competition. So no, UT v Bama does not qualify for anyone.

Adding more teams just amplifies the exponential number of complainers.

There aren't more the 8 teams that legitimately could be the top team. Four is probably more like it. It was fine with two, because it never really was an actual playoff, and it never will be.

Regulate the conferences, schedules and playoff seeds by professional league standards that don't depend on anyone's feelings or opinions and you could have a playoff.

Stop pretending a college playoff can be an actual logical thing. We're basically lobbying for playoff participation trophies.

Folks are being played to give the networks more billions for airing more games with fake importance that nobody really gives a rats ass about.

You want better postseason games that are far more interesting? Go back to the bowl system when it worked and stop dreaming about an implausible championship among 100-plus college teams.

The only positive thing about the playoff is that you saw 10 seed Miami make the final this past year.

And then 7 seed Notre Dame v 8 seed OSU in the final the year before.

None of those teams would've made the playoff in our former format.

We need to see how it plays out more over the next few years but chances are you aren't going to see a team outside the top 10 make the final 4. And don't think expanding the playoff will help the Big12. They'll manipulate the rankings so we only have 1 Big12 team a year
