We have a new AD now, everyone drinks at the tailgates, we have alcohol in the suites. When are we going to start serving alcohol at football games? It's inevitably going to happen eventually so why not just start now? If you are against this, you are against our program catching up with the times.

Probably the same time they stop having a local preacher say a prayer over the PA system pregame.
Both are 'Baylor things' that likely won't change.

I've been too non Baylor college football and NFL games that have a pregame prayer, and they still serve alcohol.

I've always wondered if Baylor had some kind of endowment or donation tied to not having alcohol at games. Mack just dismissed the idea out of hand like it would never possibly happen until the end of time, which is not typically how he addressed issues people had some interest in. Made me think there might be some kind of legal or institutional financial impediment like that. I'm sure someone out there knows if it's true.

Of course in 2026 the Baptists don't drink scruple is almost completely, if not completely, dead. Even the Baptists I know over 70 rarely have that view anymore. It's actually a significant Christian phenomena that this opinion vanished in a single generation, almost without comment, in nearly the same way strict Sunday sabbath observance disappeared from Christian American practice sometime after WW2, again, in just a single generation.

I am a beer nerd and lover. I mean I go to beer festivals regularly. With that said I will probably never drink a beer at McLane's. I am not paying $15 to drink a Bud Light. Someone will have to pay me to drink it actually.

Yes sir! Your new goal and mission is to make this happen at Harvard on the Brazos.
In Germany its normal for you to bond with your pastor over ice cold beers.

If there is beer for sell in heaven, I will buy you one when we both get there. If there isn't any good beer available, I will know I am really in Hell.

It's a race to see who buys the 1st beer. Just so you'll know, I'm a Belgian Tripel man.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long!

Currently Baylor still tries to market itself as a Christian focused university. The selling of beer at games probably won't happen but then again our lady prez has sold out Baylor values to gays and Muslims so anything is possible. My personal preference would be to keep alcohol sales out of Baylor sports if for no reason but to prevent the drunkenness of stupid vulgar sports fans. But for those who just have to pay $15 for a beer sure go ahead and finish destroying Baylor.

What I was always told and just sort of accepted as truth (no way of confirming it, obviously) was that there's a couple big donors that have threatened to pull their money if Baylor start selling alcohol. No clue if it's true, but it would kind of make sense about why it's such a touchy subject. I guess what I'm getting at is that I doubt the reason Baylor would give for why they don't allow alcohol sales at athletic events is "alcohol is sinful".

With the amount of drinking we did in the stands as freshmen in 1998 you would have thought alcohol was being sold. It was so easy to sneak drinks in back then.

Right on!

God placed George's right between Baylor Stadium & Brooks Hall so that every single day after practice you had the option of taking a right off of Dutton, a right off of 18th and that final right on Speight. Can you imagine how many Big O's were consumed since 1930 by Baylor Bears?!?!

George's really became a lifesaver when it was "neck bone night" at the athletic dining hall underneath Martin Hall.

Pete's across the street was also a go to on neck bone night.

Knowing our administration, they would probably kick you out for eating the Halal food and drinking the beer for fear of offending someone

1. I don't think they won't want the liability of drinking on campus or in the stadium.

2. It also allows them to throw a bone to the last remaining conservatives on the Board and the conservatives among the donors.

Also a thing they can point to and say "see we are social conservative...no beer!"

Political cover....

While they move hard Left on historic statues, LGBTQ, hiring leftwing professors, DEI, and lots of other issues.

Baylor will move left on every issue eventually...but not on beer or Greek Houses (fraternity/sorority)

Its not true....all the main $15 million dollar donor suites are allowed to have alcohol...and almost all take them up on that offer.

Very few, and none of the biggest donors, care about beer & wine on campus.

Its a urban legend....kind of like how when I was on campus Baylor would never tell us why the sororities could not build houses. So people made up stories about Waco having a rule against 5 or more unrelated girls living together as being "a place of prostitution"

There is no deep reason or hidden donor stipulation against beer....they just don't want to allow it

Loved a story from an old and long deceased Baylor alum, past regent and friend, who gave Baylor a lot of money. He was at the 57 Sugar bowl and went down to the bar, Place was only half full and he was talking to the bartender. Told the bartender he felt kind of sorry for the bar staff having Baylor as one of the teams playing. Bartender looked at him and said, are you kidding me, my staff has never been busier, delivering booze to the hotel rooms. In brown bags of course.
