I know we Baylor fans have our desires and thoughts, IMO, Riley would NEVER come to Baylor. We could attempt to money whip (BU- that's an oxymoron) him, but he or his representatives would never respond to the initial inquiry.

I'd take him. He would never come here and would be a terrible fit though. I don't think Dave is leaving even with a losing record, because Doug is now on record saying that the vibes and feelings matter more than winning. However, if the powers that be do decide to move on from Dave, I fully expect the next tire to be somebody very docile and jolly, with no baggage. That is not Lincoln Riley

I read that quote to say "if the fans don't show up, Dave is fired".... This affirms my decision to not renew season tickets!

It would be neat to see Lincon Riley again, but I think the bigger issue is that the Big 12 lost its 3 best HCs in a single offseason (ISU, KSU, and Utah) and almost lost its fourth (BYU). That has resulted in a bit of power gap at the HC level within the conference, with BYU now first, Houston second, and possibly Texas Tech third. Lincoln's return to the conference would certainly help stabilize the perception of the conference at the HC level, however, the league needs to really assess whether the problem is that many of its HCs are not actually P4 level (Baylor, Cincinnati, etc.) or if it's that some of its programs cannot compete in NIL.

I don't see a lot of reason to think that the guy who left all the resources in Norman for Hollywood in a big splash and then had an uneven performance in the pac 12 is going to roll into Waco and kill it.

We'd be lucky to get Lincoln Riley. He would bring immediate relevance to our program and has a very marketable offense. He also gets players to the NFL. We can clutch our pearls all we want to, but at the end of the day, we're flushing millions away on a bad coach and overall meh team. That's not exactly something to thump our chest about

I read this as McNamee refusing to get tied down to a number, which is smart. Why would he paint himself into a corner when he doesn't have to? Some of you guys clearly have little to no experience managing people or running organizations.

This is what I've been saying, because it's the correct way. You can't just put a number on it. OK, you could say three wins or less and he gone, or 9 wins or better, he stays. But it's not that simple, especially because it's likely going to be somewhere in between. Six wins could look like a team that's headed in the right direction with an positive trajectory, or it could rudderless and in dire need of change,

Tee it up and watch the games. Gonna be an interesting season. It will likely answer itself.

I'm not sure how he "seems to be an upgrade over our last 2 ADs" so far. I have seen nothing so far to rebut the presumption that this was Stanton II hire.

It is that simple. We very clearly have no objective goals or standards for the football program, so who cares right?

Managing an effective football program? Not important for a football coach.
Managing a healthy roster with reasonable depth? Not important for a football coach.
Showing demonstrable improvement in the roster and execution of plays? Not interesting.
Beating a rival consistently? Not relevant.
Going to the Big 12 title game? Not relevant.
Staying about .500 in a watered down Big 12? Not historically accurate for Baylor. After all, Baylor used to lose to Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, and Texas A&M and now we lose to Cincinnati, Central Florida, and Houston. One way or another, we find our way to the basement.

If goals, trajectory, or vibes mattered, Dave would've been gone three times over.

Doug should be fired for failing to fire Dave on Day 1. But hey at least we got cool unis and 4 dollar pretzels.

Doug is not an upgrade. He is a hired admin mouthpiece and will be treated as one until he demonstrates one single ounce of independent thought and action.

He has already failed, and continues to fail, in this regard. Instead we have wasted three years on Dave Aranda and we may not see a competent Baylor football team until 2029/2030.

Where has he failed thus far? Failing to fire Aranda on Day 1? That was already a non-starter at the point he got hired. This is the litmus test season for Aranda and for McNamee. He got rid of Tailgate Guys, he's fixing the uniform issues, and everything else seems to be on track (Men's Bball brought back Tang, baseball investments, etc.). I don't know what you realistically expected him to do in 6 months.

Mitch, if I was in charge of Baylor football, Dave would've been fired three years ago. But to answer your question, in press conferences, I would never ever say that "good vibrations" in my program is a key goal in determining whether I retain a failing coach or not. "Good vibrations" is appropriate when you're listening to The Beach Boys, or when giving a post game speech at the local YMCA. It is not appropriate in the context of a head coach that makes 5 million/year and a roster that splits 20% of your team's revenue every year to the tune of $10 million.

So you can keep trying to insult me, but it's so silly to do so. It wasn't one of Dougs better press conferences imo, and maybe we should just agree to disagree
