We've officially entered the era where your wearing an NFL jersey one week and a college jersey the next. College football really does go further and further off the rails every day. I hate what college athletics has become.
Is anyone else losing interest in college athletics as a whole?
During the pre-NIL era, my interest was at like an 11 out of 10. Would watch football for hours and hours every Saturday, could recite our entire starting lineup by memory, knew a lot of players on different teams, etc. Nowadays? My interest is may be a 3 out of 10. There's really no point paying attention to high school recruiting. Half the players on any given team are going to leave every year, and while the players have free reign to act like mercenaries, the fans are still expected to waive their pom-poms, keep buying the season tickets, keep buying the $15 beers, etc. it's obvious that Baylor can't afford to compete at a high level under the current system, and there seems to be zero answers for steps forward from our leadership other than, "Try to convince yourself that six wins is good, and open up that checkbook."
Basically, there's a certain hypocrisy to it all that doesn't sit well with me.
