I have a feeling he will be out of our league if and when our leadership finally decides to move on from Dave. I still think we will end up with somebody like Traylor from UTSA

I'd like to see what UTSA does this year.

Traylor's stock has dropped a little after the last two .500 years in conference play.

That's where I'm at. There was a time I would've been stoked with him. I've kept an eye on their program, and the guy complains way too much about NIL for my liking. I want a coach that just accepts whatever his paradigm is and takes the bull by the horns. Like, Baylor under the current paradigm is likely never going to get better than average-ish P4 talent. You gotta show that you can take that and do something with it

Dave disapproves. He reads Bernstein bears to the boys and gives pats on the back with ice cream cones

He is a follicly-disadvantaged head coach that does not win games

This is the kind of coach I like, someone who is all about football, none of that flashy nonsense. You can see Saban's influence all over this guy.

Many of us have been raving about him for years, and chances are he gets poached by the big leagues after this season. It's a shame, maybe Mack Rhoades should've read these forums instead of going all in on Aranda. Most of the members on this board would be a better GM

It's so true. I hate that, "this isn't a good year to get rid of our crummy coach, because there's no coaches that are good" argument people make, when this year's coach that's under the radar becomes next year's coach everybody starts talking about that now is out of our league. I was talking about Jimmy Rogers when he was at Washington State. Iowa State will probably struggle this year, but I think he will be very good for them in the long run.

That's what they always used to say on the premium side. I'm curious what RebelT thinks about the state of our program these days

Huff

That guy? Has he not had an aneurysm by now?

Taylor at UTSA has that team set to make a big splash this season. He's a THSCA guy and has great chemistry with Texas coaches. He's my favorite. My long shot favorite is Dabo Sweeney because Clemson has been hurt with the NIL stealing their best players. Dabo would play well at BU. Newberry is a Baylor guy & has done well at the military academy but we need to rebuild the whole program to bury the last 7 years of boredom ball

Interesting. I want to like Traylor. From what I know of him, I think he would fit in well, and he seems to have a lot more charisma than Dave. Like I said, he complains way too much about his lack of NIL resources versus other teams in his conference, and that's likely going to be his paradigm at Baylor

Dabo for me is a no go for the very reason you listed. His NIL paradigm at Clemson relative to the rest of the ACC is better than what his NIL paradigm at Baylor would be relative to the rest of the big 12. For me, that's a non-starter. I mean, I still think he would be an upgrade over Dave so I wouldn't complain too much if that's the route we went

Traylor and Dabo were good options at one point, but not so much anymore.

If Baylor rushed their AD hire to get Doug, only to stall on firing Aranda because "we can't get a coach in time", to finally firing Aranda after his third lame duck season, and then using that time to hire Jeff Traylor, a guy we could've had last year, then someone in the AD needs to be slapped.

If Traylor is the future, why are we not in Year 1 under him right now? He was available and could've already been hired.

Exactly. I just think we end up with somebody like that because I don't know how attractive our job really is. A lot of these coaches are going to stay in a better NIL situation relative to the rest of their conference to springboard to a better job
