Is anyone concerned he can make it through the entire season healthy? He's recovered from issues at FL, but with the OL I'm certainly nervous. More than likely he's the only chance of consistent offensive production with our Off group.

Guess we'll see on his first possession in Atlanta. The resident Pollyanna has bet his life on Lagway. Probably commit suicide if he gets injured.

I doubt he plays the last half of the season..... because of some rogue injury then transfer out like Dequan Finn

In addition to his history of injury issues, in general we have a bad history of keeping starting QBs on the field throughout the season, especially post Bryce Petty. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but presently don't have high hopes for our OLine which means Lagway is likely going to be taking a lot of hard shots. Not going to be surprised if he misses time or even goes down for the season before it's all over.

Yes, I'll be a little surprised if we do not see the backup quarterback at some point this season, whoever that is. Hoping the best for the guy, but Dave decided to sink a lot of his budget into bringing him here to the detriment of other position groups imho (like O line), so we'll see if this gamble pays off

Definitely don't have a concern before we play a down.

Im not too worried about him..ive stood next to him and shook his hand..hes built..prob as solid or more than Bohannon..and i dont remember him getting hurt much..

I didn't think their guy looked nearly as bad. I have never seen a quarterback that literally could not hit the broad side of a barn like Finn. I have no clue how or if anybody scouted the guy, he was so bad

Behind our O-line, he's going to be running for his life.

I'm an optimist but our history of healthy QB's hasn't been good going back to RGiii. Petty's two full seasons looks like the anomaly.

On the flip side Lagway is bigger than most of our QB's. Hopefully absorbs contact better.

OL and DL our the biggest worries. No one can deny we have a great receivers coach who has gotten the most out of a walk on and Texas State transfers. I'm not worried about production from that group but rather if we have time to get them the ball.

DL is an easy portal fix when you have lots of money (see Tech last year). OL is difficult (see Colorado basically any year). OL requires cohesion and that is hard to build in one offseason. Ohio State got blown out by Oregon the other year during the regular season and then found cohesion by year end and returned the favor to Oregon in the playoff. I think it'll be more common for teams to look disjointed early on even with talent.

Actually even Petty only had one full injury free season. In 2014 he got hurt in the first half of the opening game against SMU (fortunately we pretty much had that one in the bag by halftime) and then missed the following game the next week (Seth Russell QB'd us to an easy home win over a cupcake opponent). But yeah, compared to our history of QB injuries over the last decade and a half plus it still felt like an anomaly.

I think it was just a fluke thing for Russell. We had an O-line that year.

Once he was gone, the team went to crap with Briles being fired. Any coach we've had since then has never developed a QB at Baylor. We've had O-lines from time to time, but never a developed QB.

Don't see how this year will be any different.
