In general, negative comments in free sports forums is the norm. From what I have heard, other forums are much worse than this one.

It makes sense. People who use free college message boards are usually one of two groups - either a fan/alumni member who is looking for information about their team or wants to follow their team, but is too cheap to pay for any premium content. Nothing wrong with that, but they will often get frustrated with the other group. The other group may have been a fan at some point, but now are frustrated beyond being able to look at things objectively. They lack the financial resources to genuinely make a difference and therefore be heard by the administration, but they crave a place where they can voice their frustration and feel validated when they see that others agree with them. This second group will typically lash out at any hint of optimism, and have allowed their frustration to pollute their fandom. The first group of people become labeled as polyannas if they even suggest, "it's possible that things aren't as bad as you think they are". If you're in the first group and get annoyed - suck it up and pay for a premium board ... or just get used to it. Don't try to reason with anyone.

There is a small group of people that are simply 'trolls'. They may or may not be affiliated with the institution on that website, but they find enjoyment in stirring people up and have found a particular fanbase as easy targets. They are rare, initially annoying, but can be amusing once recognized as what they are and observing the reactions that they get from others.

The problem is that truth and objectivity often equates to another person's negativity.

Well put. Reality.

Also I have no clue what financial resources has to do with anything really. Met plenty of rich but objective people and plenty of poorer non objective people and vice versa.

Some people are able to buy themself a seat at the table and are able to voice their complaints directly to the people who make the decisions. Those that do not have the resources are simply screaming into the void. Professional people who make decisions in business, don't listen to idiots on free message boards.

You have no real clue who has money and who does not. Attempting to divine exactly who does and who does not based on message board writings is a fool's errand.

The ironic thing that KIA probably doesn't realize is that Jeremy Fudge, possibly Baylor's biggest donor and somebody who Linda and Doug absolutely would answer the phone for, does post on the premium board from time to time

I logged in just to post something similar. The team I watched today was light years better than our teams the last few years. I entered this season with very low expectations, but I believe the team I saw today will win a lot of Big 12 games this year. I wanted Dave fired the last 2 years, but today's game was fun to watch and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. If you want Baylor to lose just because you're jaded and angry, then that's sad. I always want Baylor to win. I'd rather be wrong and happy then right and miserable.

They are not jaded and angry because they want Baylor to lose

They are jaded and angry because Dave keeps putting up L's instead of Wins.

The team looked better against Auburn...great... Dave still lost the game.

Its his 7th season at Baylor. He is 36-38 all time...a losing record

He makes at least $4.7 million a year at Baylor

You are selling optimism and maybes, "he will get better". The jaded and angry fans are dealing with a real record of underperformance.

I understand that constant negativity can get old.

I think sites like this are a release for people to do so and things posted on her should be viewed from that lens only.

With that said, negativity is largely deserved. It doesn't take much looking around to see why.
