Lance Taylor is the guy Baylor should be looking at if they ever decide to get serious about football again. Guys going to be one hell of a P4 coach in the near future
Yeah. And the way things have been going here, the Seminoles will be getting a hell of a coach.
Because after all, it is all the Coach. FSU has deeper problems than Norvell. They guy didn't forget how to coach upon arriving in Tallahassee.
You guys underestimate the shift that has occurred in CFB. It is nowhere near the same world. FSU is struggling because Miami, Gainesville (SEC), Orlando, Boca, Tampa, Lauderdale are all better places to be in Florida and pay better. Tallahassee is a hole...
Spend some time there. My brother played there under Bowden and my daughter graduated from FSU, it is not what it was. Norvell was the least of the issues, there is a reason Jimbo won the Natty and left.
Your sarcasm is duly noted. However, you missed some of my point- which is that FSU appears to me at least ready to make decisions and act on them. And by the way, take a look at where Houston and Oklahoma State fall in the roster money rankings. Sometimes my friend, it IS the coach- if nothing more than to set the standard.
If the Coach had a record of losing, I would agree. I know coaches that were up for the Broyles award that now are said to suck. My experience in observing CFB very closely is that it is the recruiting that makes the difference. In college, the recruiting (now NIL) is the most important part.
The bottomline is that most "top" programs only play one or two games a year where the talent is close enough for coaching to make the difference. Funny, the lower you go in the rankings the more even the talent gets, maybe because the "pro" level guys go to the big programs. For the most part, it is talent match-ups. Saban went to the HOF not playing equal talent and when he tried it in the NFL he RAN back to college.
NFL is about coaching, the players are pretty much equal. Scheme and play calling wins games. In CFB if the talent is equal, you f-ed up in your recruiting.
