Knowing that Lagway is not playing, I will revise my prediction to 2720 Baylor

With Lagway out we will still win but the 19 point cover will be harder. I bet Nate flings a couple more picks this week unless he makes better decisions.

With Lagway out, I think it's an upset waiting to happen. I'm going to guess 34-31, La Tech. We dig a hole in third quarter and go down 27-14. We storm back to make it close, then give up a late touchdown, only to almost mount another comeback, and come up just shy. Sound familiar?

Good decisions usually come from experience, and experience usually comes from making bad decisions. I expect Nate to do well.

Apparently the Louisiana Tech starting quarterback is also out as well, so now I honestly have no clue what to expect. Could be lower scoring than people are thinking, IDK

Keep in mind La Tech's starting QB is out as well.....injury to his throwing hand.

No. but I don't think it's an unreasonable take at all. Baylor has averaged two turnovers a game since the start of the 2025 season. LA Tech led their conference and was top 25 in turnovers forced last season. Nate Bennett turned it over twice against PVAMU, a worse team talent wise than he'll face this week. I'm not trying to dunk on Nate Bennett, and I think he'll have some success throwing the ball on this defense, but I also don't have confidence that he won't have some costly turnovers either that put us in a rough spot. Particularly when analytics Dave decides to go for it on 4th and 6 from our own 37 or something like that.

Additionally, I would think the Liberty, UTSA, and Texas State losses were just as unlikely, but all occurred within the last 10 years. Why would you think that this Baylor team would be suddenly immune to a dumb loss like that?

Yea, that's true. But their backup QB was on their team last year and won 3 games in a row to end their season. He's got much more experience than ours.

We scored 44 points with our backup quarterback. Louisiana Tech is playing with their backup qb. And our defense has allowed 20 points this year. But I understand what you're saying.

Admittedly the defense looks much improved, but I don't count last week's game as any proof of concept given the level of competition. With Auburn, while we held them well, it's hard to have 100% confidence in anything from week 1, especially given a new coach and system in their first game.

But, I will happily be wrong this weekend and hope we put on a good showing. I'm just not confident that, even if we get the win, it will be a very encouraging performance.

Safe to say that a Pendergrass anytime TD is a solid bet.
