He was a leading rusher. He just glides down the sideline.

I've been impressed too, he looks very good in the little time he's had on the field so far. Sadly, he'll probably be in the portal at the end of the season, its just how modern CFB works (and it sucks).

I'm a fan of Morris. He's the only back we have who consistently shows a spark when he's in the game.

His time has been limited, but he's flashed every time he's played.

I want to see more of him for sure.

He's a fighter and scraps for every yard he can get and almost always falls forward...but he's not a P4 RB1. He's a great complementary back.

Pendergrass is not explosive enough to start.

I believe there are shackles on our RBs. I see holes to the outside but the coaches don't like for them to dance to the outside. I think they've had a drilled into them always going north and south. Sometimes east and west opens up the holes then straight ahead.

Our running backs are absolutely limited by the lack of running room provided by our O-line. But I don't think any of them are particularly dynamic either.

Morris is the only one I've seen that looks like he's potentially got the ability to operate effectively without a ton of space. And the sample is very small with him.

If DJ comes back and can run a bit, it will likely open up a lot more for our RBs, and we will start to see some big gainers, particularly with Knighten and Morris on the edge and Dawson and Turner late in games. A running QB is the most predictable game changer in college football. It's nearly like a hockey power play.

That is on the offensive coach for running him on first down up the middle, you need to mix up your play calling to allow him to excel! Predictable play calling is hard on offensive line and the backs!

The other backs are getting those exact same first-down runs. We don't split time at RB by down. We split time by drive unless someone has to go out to get a blow.

These guys are all running behind the same line on the same downs. And while none of them are lighting the world on fire, Dawson is consistently the least productive on a per-carry basis.

It brings me no joy to say that. It's just the truth. Just as it was with Terence Williams in 2017 and Richard Reese in 2023 and 2024.

Pendergrass and Knighten are both quality backs, but their presence as the single back in the backfield limits our offense. Both are power backs , but don't pose a serious threat to run the ball outside the tackles. I am encouraged to see Morris emerge as a back that opens the entire field to our running game. Opponents defensive coordinators have to change their defensive play calls when having to cover the entire width of the field.

I really thought Pendergrass would have a breakout year this year. I am a bit baffled by his lackluster performance. Either he's still injured or I"m just a dupe for thinking he would be a very big factor in any success we had this year. Come to think of it, I have a feeling he may just not be the same after the surgery. You don't just go that far down in production for no reason.
